DSP? in Portable PA

I don't see anything about DSP for the powered F1 812 speaker. I have seen it in the "Passive" Bose pdf. If anyone knows where it's mentioned, please let me know?

Hi DJJerry,

There is Digital Signal Processing in the F1 Model 812. It automatically optimizes the EQ to suit the position of the Flexible array (Straight, J, Reverse-J, C) and responds to the EQ switch so you can use the F1 Model 812 with the F1 Subwoofer.  There's no mention of the DSP in those terms because this all happens automatically. The DSP is not user accessable except by changing the position of the flexible array and the EQ switch.

The F1 Model 812 Passive requires active equalization because the F1 Model 812 Passive does not have a amplifiers or digital signal processing. Looking at the documentation for the Bose F1 Model 812 Passive Loudspeaker Installation and Safety Guidelines you will find a section about the active equalization that must be provided for the F1 Model 812 Passive to provide infrasonic bandpass protection, amplifier power limiting and active equalization.

If you read further in the Bose F1 Model 812 Passive Loudspeaker Installation and Safety Guidelines you will find recommended settings when using external processing. The F1 Model 812 uses similar settings.
Reference: F1 Model 812 Flexible Array Loudspeaker Digital Signal Processing (DSP)

Does that help?

Thank you ST for the information. I was surprised that there was no mention of it other than the Passive. Have a great day. Jerry
