Extension Cord

I'm going to be running 2 F1 stacks outdoors off of a generator. Would plugging an 812 and sub into one 12 gauge 50 ft cord work?

50 ft 12AWG 125Vac 15Amp cable on Amazon is what I'm looking at.

Thanks!

Hi Gleb,

Thank you for joining the Community. Welcome.

Looking at this calculator you're probably okay with the extension cord but that will depend on the quality of the power you get from the generator and other things you have that are drawing power.

Please check out these articles:

They were originally written for the L1® family of products but they are also applicable to the F1 Model 812 and F1 Subwoofer.

Does that help?

Thank you for the quick response!

I have a Westinghouse wh2000ixlt inverter which is comparable to the Honda one mentioned in that very helpful article. So it seems I should be able to run both 812 and subs just off that thing, correct?

Should I get an extension cord for each speaker and sub, or can I get a cord with 2 plugs and have one cable per set?

Hi Gleb,

Thanks for the additional information. For others following along, I found this detailed description of the Westinghouse wh2000ixlt inverter generator.

I would run two separate 12 AWG extension cords; one to each F1 Stack (F1 Model 812 with F1 Subwoofer).

I would not do this:

because the second F1 Stack could be at the end of 75-100 feet of extension cords.

What else will be running off the Westinghouse unit?

Thank you for that information again!

That's good to know. I'll also be running just a laptop and a DDJ-RZ mixer, both of which barely draw anything together compared to the speakers. Pretty amazing what this whole setup can do and how easy it is to bring so much sound anywhere I go.

Hi Gleb,

Have a great show!

Please come back and tell us how it goes.
