I just bought 2 bose 812 f1 and f1 subwoofer, this 4 November
I operated the low and medium volume system in the house for 3-4 hours for "break in " after reading the forum .. I went to try the kit now in a room and plays 5-6 songs with deep bass "drake" etc.
I watched for not the limiter on, but after 20 minutes, as a big smell from the subwoofer ...
This seems not affect the operation, but if it happens again every time you need a little push to the limit the kit ... not good ..
I also have a 812 f1 blue light forward is not working. My 2 subwoofer have spots on the speakers and this spots is visible before I went to test the kit in the room ..

Have you checked the switch on the back?
My 2 subwoofer have spots on the speakers and this spots is visible before I went to test the kit in the room ..

I received the replacement for boths subwoofer and one 812 for the bad front light.
Unfortunately, they have the same spots on the center of the 10-inch speakers. It is visible in the light room
Am I the only one with his spots? Is it normal ?

Thank you for telling us about your experiences. I have shared your pictures with Bose. You can expect to hear directly from Bose and they will provide you with replacement units without the spots.
I did my first two evenings with my new bose kit which still have the famous yellow spots on the subwoofer speakers.
Unfortunately for both evenings, the subwoofer emitted a smell of burnt plastic. The nearby guests were not very enthusiastic
The subwoofer was at 2 o'clock and the heads at 12 o'clock. The mixer is connected on the subsequent subwoofer to the heads
I feel that the limiter is poorly adjusted or not fast enough. The light clip never activates but the limiter yes.
When I push the bose to their limit .. example: The limiter (for the sub f1 only not the head 812 No clip or limiter) activates a few times 2, 3 seconds during the songs, I really check that it does not activate any more than 2-3 seconds, the subwoofer Instantly releases an odor
And I would like to point out that the odor did not follow after 1h with the active limiter but well 10-15 seconds only
I had a lot of equipment in life ... Never the subwoofer released odors even though the limiter was turned on an entire evening with my old Yorkville LS700P or LS720P or JBL Sub etc.
Otherwise, I love the sound quality and the size / weight of bose F1 But I think it misses a little something for the subwoofer and a lack on quality control
I'm still waiting ... They do not have service in French for technical support on the telephone.
And they surely sell less subwoofer in quebec than in the USA. I received 4 sub with the same spots and the odor problem.
My dealer told me that Bose Canada would unpack the subwoofer to the warehouse to validate the problem .. but it's just a rumor so ..
But i love this kit for power and low weight .. but i'm wait to fix the problem for love it at 100%
I also saw a difference between the two F1 812 heads for the pivot. My first is very easy to move.
My news is much more resistant.
I also had the opportunity to test heads without subwoofer, full range It tends to also a odor like the subwoofer if it plays and the limiter lights a few times.
I am sorry to hear you had these problems. There is production variation from unit to unit and we find the vast majority of our customers do not have a reoccuring smell problem after the first few uses. We have however, addressed this issue at manufacturing and at our warehouses, talking preventative steps to prevent this smell from happening. I'm also sorry to hear your warranty replacements had white spots on them. We can provide replacements to you that will not have these issues, if you can call PTS for warranty service again. I apoligize again for any inconvience on behalf of Bose!
