Hello,

First of all: BIG UP for everybody getting thru this Corona crisis !!

My issue:

When I update an (old) ESP-88 to the new firmware it becomes in the CS hardware manager an ESP-00 ?

So it doesn't accept the design anymore and it's serialcommands etc.

I really need to update a system to work with the newest Designmax speakers etc.

The ESP has now firmware 4.620 and i want it to update to firmware 4.820

is there a workaround for this issue?

Hello Richard,

I hope you and your loved ones are doing well.

You can easily convert an ESP-88 file to ESP-00.

  • Create a shortcut of CDesinger.exe located in the bin folder.
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Bose\ControlSpace x.x\bin
  • In the shortcut properties window add "(space)-XF" at the end of the target path and click OK.

  • Start CSD using this shortcut
  • Open your ESP-88 design file
  • A window should pop-up asking if you want to convert the ESP-88 design to a ESP-00 design and click Yes


  • Save this converted file as a new design and you should be able to upload this converted design file

We've just released CSD 5.8.2 which fixed the following

  1. Incorrect display of latest Dante firmware version
  2. Upload issues when not using en-US locale

The ESP you updated, can you tell me which cards were mounted (like a Dante Card)?
