Getting Ready for BIG Sound

I’m looking for a little guidance.

I have a large Prom I’m DJing, over 500 & possibly up to 800 High School Students in a large gymnasium sized University Ballroom on a raised stage. Would I have better bass response (kids want feel the music) using all (FOUR) of my L1 M2’s with each having a B2 Sub, I have a mixer that can handle four outputs. OR  (Two) L1 M2's with Packlites and (Four) B2 Subs (2 per side).  In any of the above configurations I also own (Two) JBL 518s (18in powered subs) I can bring with.

I’d like to thank the Forum users with their input on this.

Hi eBlueDJ,

Thank you for joining the Community.  And thanks for the interesting question.

I'd be inclined to take all four L1® Model IIs.  You'll have the same amount of bass either way, but you'll have more flexibility in terms of how you place the L1®s.  You could have two on the stage and two on the far side of the dance floor.  You could turn them back to face stage, or not, depending on the size of the dance floor. With that many bodies in the room, it might be good to distribute the sound instead of trying to push all the sound from the stage.

You might get some more bass by bundling the B2s together, but that could be offset by all the bodies in the room.

So my gig went very well.

I used all four Bose L1® Model IIs each with a B2 instead of bundling the B2s with the Packlites.  The sound was incredible and kicked butt. It amazed the guests and I was questioned a couple of times, was all the sound coming from the only speakers they could see on stage. Simple answer, YES!

Here's a pic of my setup.

Thanks Bose and the community for your help.

I'd have thought you'd have issues having the sticks that close together.  I'm glad this worked out and sounded great!

Are you using a T1?

At this time I do not own or use a ToneMatch.  All equalizing is done through my DJ mixer.

Four sticks, so cool. Just like Dead & Company on tour now.

Cheers, James
