Handling Inexperienced Singers For Karaoke

Does anyone else have this problem. I get my L1 system trimmed for the music and my mic. Then you have the idiotic so called singers (they’re not all that way) that don’t know mic technique or think they should cup the windscreen and scream into the mic. It is a constant battle turning down the individual gain on that mic channel so they don’t totally red out the gains on the PS1 Power Stand and the R1 Remote…can that cause any damage to the L1 system???

Hi George James,
No problem, you’ll be happy to know it won’t harm the L1 system.

How about this - you know those cones vets put on dogs?

What about an acoustically transparent one to keep the “singer’s” hand below the mic capsule! Big Grin

***Disclaimer: I am a musician, not a Bose engineer - this may not be a practical solution. Smile

A compressor/limiter between your mic and mixer will generally take care of 'em.

This is a common problem with some of the karaoke singers as they have no idea how to handle a microphone. I agree with using a compressor/limiter to handle the problem. I use the Bose T1 and it has one built in.

Even if you don’t have one I seriously doubt that it will hurt your L1 as they are pretty bulletproof.

Karaoke Spotlight & Flipper…Thanks for the response…I had considered the compressor/limiter idea…Mark-At-Bose - I believe I’ll have a cone on hand just for the threat!
