Headphone 700 --- On Off loud sound - How to shut it off

Hi - I am loving the new headphone. However, I have an issue --- 

when the On / Off button is pressed, there is a LOUD noise that comes in the headphone. Its a irritating sound and i beleive there was an option during set up to say no but i inadvertently said yes.

 

Does anyone know where to find the option to shut off that noise each time the headphones make?

 

I have looked in the app everywhere and am not finding the solution.

Welcome to the Bose Community, thanks for taking the time to post. 

 

It is currently not possible to disable the audible prompts of the Noise Cancelling Headphones 700. 

 

The orchestral stabs were designed to denote when the headphones are powered on and off. As the headphones do not have a physical switch, it is a great way of being certain the product has actually changed to the desired power state.

When you're using the headphones without audio (just to muffle the sound of the environment) "the orchestral stab" come out of no where and scare the bejesus out of me. It's like Cato from the Pink Panther. I understand I can increase the auto-off feature to increase the time when Cato is going to attack me... but he's always lurking.

 

If I can suggest two fixes:

1. Change the sound when the headphones turn off with auto-off.  Don't use a stab, instead use a soundfx that starts soft and grows in volume.  The current soundfx is very jaring.

2. Allow us to disable the on/off soundfx (default enabled).

OK- agree.

However, you can give us an option of some sounds. Tge current one is very very jarring. Please share this feedback with the product / engineering groups.

I am experiencing this problem as well.  It is a terrible "feature" of the new headphones.  I often use them to listen to music or sleepcasts to fall asleep to and they not only wake me up but make me jump a mile!  

 

Bose needs to make a work around for this.

The volume of the notifications should at least be reduced, especially the low volume notification, which is incredibly loud compared to the softest setting when paired with an iPhone

Exactly!  At a minimum it should mirror the headphone volume setting.

Actually, thinking about this more, do we even need a low volume notification?

 

If I am in the process of turning the volume down, and then i cannot hear the audio source anymore, isn't it rather intuitive that I have reached the lowest volume setting and need to turn it back up one notch?

The sound effects (power off, minimum volume, etc.) are far louder than I ever want the headphones to be. Also the minimum volume is still too high -- I'm at the minimum (nonzero) volume setting on my laptop and the minimum volume setting on the headphones and the music is too loud for quiet environments. Back to the old Sony WH-1000XM3/waiting for the XM4 to come out...
