Interested in purchasing L! system. We have 8 member oldies band. 5 vocalists, keys, sax, guitar, drums. Currently use 2 15" powered RCFs and 3 12" monitors.. Most venues are function halls and gymnasiums
Sounds like a cool band! L1s are rated by maximum audience size. Up to an audience of 100: L1 Compact, up to 300: Model 1S, up to 500: Model II.
The original intent of the L1 system was for each member to have his or her own. This adds up quickly in dollars so many bands pair that down to something like 2 L1s. Some bands mix multi-mono – all instruments through both L1s and some split the mix stage left and stage right which can be preferable including beneficial localization of sound.
I recommend selecting L1s by the largest audience you predict your band will play for in the foreseeable future. I will add, for bass instruments including drums I highly recommend the B2 over the B1.
Thanks Matt, I took your advise and acquired two of the larger systems with B2s. What's baffling me after getting familiar with the system is the array of the speakers in the columns. ALL the speakers are pointed in the same direction. When looking at the speakers from the front, they are ALL angled to my left in both sets of columns. How does this accomplish the 180 degree dispersion?
