I have an upcoming gig in a 500 seat theater/cinema that has an excellent house system and want to use it in conjunction with my L1 Classic for the best possible coverage. Ill be using just a mic and tracks (CH1 and 3) so would I just go from the CH1 XLR out into their board and, if so, would that be sending everything IE the mic, the tracks and the bass from my two B1s for them to mix? Apologies for being dense, but I
ve never done this large a venue before and want it as full as possible,so help please!
Hi zatoichi,
I would do it this way:
Channel 1 - vocals
Channel 2 - backing tracks
Then run two lines out to the house system.
Channel 1 Line Out
Channel 2 Line Out
To answer your question, the Channel 1 Line Out is Channel 1 only. The Channel 2 Line Out is Channel 2 only. Both are full-range, so you will be sending the sound that you hear from the B1s as well.
There are no lines out for Channels 3 and 4. And that is why I would use Channel 2 for the tracks.
This will also allow you to control the relative balance of the two Channels with the R1 Remote.
Note: The Remote does NOT control the volume that is sent to the Lines Out. The only thing that affects the Lines Out are the trim controls.
This means that the sound from the Lines Out must be managed by the house sound engineer.
You can tell the engineer that you will need two XLR connections (two separate channels for your feed to his/her system). These will be balanced line-level signals ( 4 dBu nominal).
The picture above shows connections for Channel 1 only. You will need to use both.
Did that help?
Thats what I needed to know: you
re on the money as always ST, many thanks!
