How Do I Set Up My T1® for Backing Tracks (Analog)

Here's a quick video to help you to set the input trim for the T1® for backing tracks or pre-recorded music. This is called Gain Staging.

This includes a look at using the Input Level meter.

The same principles apply for an instrument or line level input. Set the source to the highest level that you will need during the show, and then set the input trim so that you get solid green, occasional yellow flickers, and never see red.

Hi ST,

that's another really informative video you've put out here..

I wonder how many of the "seasoned" users have actually thought about using the Prefs Input Signal when gain staging. I must admit that I have actually done it (especially at the beginning as I was getting used to using/handling the T1). Mind you, I came from using a Yamaha AW 2400 so I was quite used to using digital mixers. I usually just set the Input Trim with the LED flicker as I don't usually have to run too hot a signal for it to be too critical. If I were using the T1 as an Audio Interface I would definitely use the Prefs method as I can see the signal better and make finer adjustments.

This is basically no different to any other digital mixer and should help people to take away some of the hands on fear when operating such a mixer. The T1 gives you the best of both worlds with the LED (as with analog mixers) and the input level meter (as with digital mixers). With my Yamaha AW 2400 I use the Input Level Meter, and with the T1 mostly the LED indicator. It's nice to have both.

You're doing some really good work here ST, and that's another "Like" from me. I'm looking forward to what's coming next. Maybe you could source out a really grimy T1 to make DrumrPete feel more at home?

I second that ... great stuff from ST.
