I have two S1 Pro Speakers, a tonematch (old) and a T8S. Trying to find what's the best way to connect the S1 Pro to either one of these devices. We usually use the Tonematch for small gigs and T8S for larger. So need to know the best way to set up each. with the two speakers. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Having both a T1 and and T8s, you can connect two S1 Pro's in different configurations. Although you can use any appropriate combination of TRS-TRS, XLR-XLR, or 1/4"-XLR balanced cables, it's best to use 1/4" TRS-TRS cables for these scenarios The S1 Pro's 1/4" inputs are line-level, same as the the T1 and T8s 1/4" outputs. Also, it doesn't matter which end is "male" or "female", and you can use these easily with any combination without worrying about which mixer you're using.
Stereo. Use your T8s and connect one cable from the 1/4" Main Out R to one S1 Pro, and Main Out L to the other S1 Pro. Simplest and most versatile. (See page 14 in the S1 Pro manual)
Dual-Mono or "Daisy Chain". Use your T8s and connect one cable from the 1/4" Main Out R to one S1 Pro, and from the "Line Out" jack on that S1 Pro to the second S1 Pro. On the T8s, pan all your channels right. As you change the volume setting on the first S1 Pro, it will affect the volume of the second S1 Pro. Use this configuration if you're trying to send the same signal to two separate areas. (See page 15 in the S1 Pro manual.)
Dual-Mono or "Daisy Chain" with the T1. Connect everything as you do in option "B", except you'll use the only 1/4" main out the T1 has. Since it is a mono device, you wouldn't need to do any panning (you couldn't if you tried! 😁)
I'd probably just always use the T8s, and take the T1 only for a backup. On my T8s, I saved two scenes -- one named "mono" with everything panned right, and another named "stereo" with channels panned where I want them. Then depending on whether I take one or two of my Bose L1 systems, I can quickly recall that scene.
