How to switch off my SoundLink Micro Bluetooth® speaker

I like to decide myself when to use my speakers but whenever I switch the speakers off, as soon as a device of mine (laptop, iMac) that is connected to the speakers by bluetooth starts up, my speakers also wake up and start working overriding my preference.

Is there a way of switching the speakers off (and on) myself so that they stay off when I am restarting my devices?

same problem - how do i really switch the speakers off? can't find the way to do this in the manual...

Hi all,

Thaks for posting. I wonder if the issue is related to using a computer versus a smartphone. I was able to perform the following test,

  • I paired my Soundlink Micro to my Android smartphone.
  • Powered off the Micro.
  • Rebooted the smartphone.

The speaker remained off until I manually turned it back on using the power button. Once I manually powered it on, it then reconnected to my phone.

I will test it again with a computer.

Thanks for your reply. I do not have the problem with my smartphone, I just switch off my Bluetooth on that if I don't want to use my speakers on my phone. So please find a way of doing this on my Windows laptop and iMac.

I posted this question more than a week ago. Is there really no way to switch the speakers off?

Hi fredinasia,

Thanks for following up. Sorry for the delay. I was able to find out that we enabled a feature that allows any previously connected speaker to be powered on remotely. This feature is primarily intended for ease of use when creating a Stereo or Party mode pairing.

Engineering is aware of customers requests to be able to turn off this feature. Once we have any news on that option we will update the community.

for me the bose micro & revolve both does that for both my PC & Android mobile when the device is restarted.

If i simply switch bluetooth on/off (without restarting) it stays off.

Same problem, no solution

Thanks Tony, switching my Bluetooth off for my laptop and iMac when I do not want the speakers is not an option cos my keyboard and mouse wouldn't work without Bluetooth.

Now the speakers are always in the wrong room when I switch on 1 of my devices (cos they are near to the device I was working on), so the sound on my laptop can not be heard near my laptop, same for my iMac.

It would make a big difference if this was resolved.

picked up a soundlink micro over the weekend. like others here and elsewhere, have updated and paired the speaker but have not be able to turn it off. have tried the reset suggestion but the problem persists. wondering if a fix/resolution is near or do i return the speaker?  thanks!
