Introducing the new L1 Pro Family!

Although the T1 ToneMatch is unable to send audio it can still receive power from an L1 Pro system via the ToneMatch port. In order for the the L1 Pro system to receive audio, users of the T1 ToneMatch would need to connect the analog main out of the T1 to an available input on the L1 Pro system.

I appreciate the reply, though that's very disappointing to hear.

Another question though: I can't determine off the top of my head if there would be any inferiority in the signal if the T1 is connected this way. Is there? Or are the only drawbacks 1. Another dang cable and 2. Reducing the total number of instrument/mic inputs that are available, compared to use of the T4S/T8.

In 14 years of using Classics, Model 1, Model 2, I can confidently say there is no detectable difference in the quality of audio when you use the analog input from the T1 analog output.   I only use my classics currently as I find the Model 2 inferior to the classic as per output and feedback potential.  Yes it's a bummer that the ToneMatch port will not provide audio... at least we can use it to power the T1.  Bringing the power supply and placing it at the base of my mic stand to reach the T1 has always been a bit of an inconvenience.

Thanks Tommy for sharing your experience on analog quality.

A colleague outside the forum had an interesting question I'd like to share:

If you have a T4/T8 mixer attached, can you still access channels 1 and 2 independently and use the APP? Or is the app and individual channel control defeated if you have a Bose T4 or T8 mixer connected via the sPIDF connector? I don't have a Bose Mixer or I would try it myself.

He's a big fan of the Pro8, posting demos over at the Acoustic Guitar Forum.

Disappointing that Bose chose not to make this clear at introduction. I think it's perfectly normal to assume a ToneMatch port is a ToneMatch port. When it's not, maybe they should change the name to something else, like ToneMatch II.

Thanks for clearing this up Dylan.

O..

Hey TommyD33710!

You can have 2 devices connected simultaneously just like the S1 Pro.

The L1 Mix App uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to control the system. So you can then have a source device (either the same device using the L1 Mix App or a different device altogether), connected for audio.

Hope this helps!

Hey Tommy,

I can confirm that Bose will not be offering any trade-in or upgrade options for older L1 systems.

The good news is in the few instances when I’ve sold older Bose gear, the resale value was much better than any other gear I’ve sold. The Bose reputation really pays off here.

I wish it was like that around here. The second I saw the Pro16, I put the MII up for sale. The offers I recieved are disrespectful to say the least haha.

I popped into L&M last week and saw the pro 8 was on display. I dang near chucked the speaker array across the room pulling it out of the spacer piece. They are sooooo light! I see where the weight savings comes from as the new speaker arrays appear to be made of plastic vs the L1 array which I think is metal. This fact combined with the need to upgrade to a T4 convinced me to keep the L1 and instead grab a second S1P for our smaller sessions.

I do believe the resale value issue might be due to recent events. Once things get back to normal, the resale value for great equipment like the MII will come back.

that’s my opinion at least

I recently purchased a Bose L1 Pro8, and have thoroughly enjoyed using it for the past few days. However, the Bose L1 Mix App no longer works on my phone (iPhone SE - the original one from a few years ago) since the update to version 1.0.1, which happened yesterday (11/23). I called Bose customer support, but was given no recourse other than to "call Apple." The older version of the app (1.0) worked great, but the updated version forces me to a "Terms of Use/Privacy Policy" screen that I can not get beyond (the "agree" button appears to be missing), and so I can no longer use the app to control my L1 Pro8. I'm posting here because I cannot find any other way to resolve the problem. I tried deleting and reinstalling the app, resetting my phone, etc. It's clear to me that the new version of the app just isn't compatible with my phone. I'm hoping it's a bug that can be fixed. Here is the screen that I am stuck on:

Hello Isaac,

Sorry to hear. I'm sure that's frustrating. Have you reported this in the app review area on Apple? Be sure to let them know the versions just like you did here. I'm confident it will get fixed soon.

Hi Isaac,

Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear you're having this problem - I too have been able to replicate this issue using an Apple device running a previous iOS version.

I have raised a ticket to our development team for a swift resolution. Please could you confirm which iOS version your iPhone is running?

I have the same issue stuck on the terms and conditions page. I have an iPhone 7 running iOS 14.2 tried it on my wife's iPhone 6 and the app didn't work on it either. This is NOT and apple problem, this is a BOSE app programer/QA problem. I had another Bose app installed for my S1 Pros, that didn't work either. Bose might want to consider relooking at who they have doing their Q&A on these apps. Not sure but I don't think us Bose users like being part of the Q&A department.

Well I sold one of my L1 type IIs on Craigslist in one day.

I also sold my Bose Compact on CL in one day. Had multiple other buyers also.

My 2 S1 Pros replaced my Compact. And my new L1 Pro16 just replaced one of my L1 Type IIs.

I am considering get a Pro32 as well. Why? Well if the sound quality is as good as that of the Pro16, and I am sure it is, I can't even imagine cranking up those 32 speakers....Aural Heaven for bigger indoor and outdoor events.

I just got my Pro16 and did two gigs with it and it killed it.

Amazing bass and clarity like I have never heard even with my L1 Type IIs.

The arrays come with a nice padded soft case...BUT, the sub/Power unit did NOT come with a case. Come on Bose you charge a premium for your equipment, you don't need to nickle and dime us for a soft case.

I bought Gator cases for my S1s way cheaper than those backpacks. The soft cases companies are smart and see what Bose is doing and they get a lot of that money Bose thought they would make.

The T1 will only power on from cable- it will not pass audio to Pro8.  I know from buying the Pro8 and not testing my t1 before going to gig.  I had to use audio out of T1 back to audio input on Pro8 to actually hear anything

Hi gogoriviera!

This is correct. The T1 ToneMatch mixer can receive power from the L1 Pro power stands, but the L1 Pro systems cannot receive audio from the T1 via the digital connection. For further explanation on this, please see my response on this thread

Thanks for the field report! The subs are 1000 watt now so I'm not surprised by the clarity comment. Yes it's insane they don't include the dust cover like they used to, another $40 I believe, but they do have a few options for cases. The roller bags are interesting but quite pricy.

I'm still pretty hyped on the pro 16. Might hold out till 0% financing event in Feb and pick one up.

Regarding resale things around here have been bad for the past few years. I see L1M2 systems pop up from time to time for over 50% off retail. Pretty crazy.

Regarding the Bose apps, I'm on an old OnePlus5 never once had an issue with the apps. My friend also runs the latest iPhone and uses the Bose connect app frequently. It sounds like a problem with your phone to me.

Nice to hear 😊 what kind of gig did you do with the pro 16? Was it vocals and instrument or DJ?

Hi there,

Can we daisy chain two or more of these setups together and use them as a home theatre surround sound system?

Many thanks.

E.K.
