Is there any way to see ToneMatch EQ settings without having a T1?

Good day everyone! I've been a sound engineer for some 15 years now but am only just beginning to discover the Bose Tonematch concept for professional use. I must confess that at first the idea of letting somebody else 'do my EQ' for me struck me as being rather... unsound However after doing my research and reading lots of customer testimonials I can see that user feedback is excellent and the system really appears to work, especially for festival-type situations or at any event where there is little to no soundcheck time.

Is there any way to see the EQ curve for the various presents without actually having a T1 mixer? In addition, is Tonematch just EQ, or does it also contain some element of dynamics control? Thanks.

Hi Bruno,

Thanks for the great questions.

The ToneMatch® Presets have served me well in festival-type situations (and the rest of the time too). If you've got a trained ear and a great EQ, you might be able to do as well, but likely not as fast.

The ToneMatch Presets are EQ (only). The settings for the EQ are not published so you can't see the EQ curves with or without a T1®. But you can certainly hear them with the T1®. Here is an article that describes all of that in more detail.

ToneMatch®

There's also a change for the frequencies affected by zEQ. This too is brilliant.

Does that help?

Thanks ST for the reply! I was under the impression that the T1 screen actually displayed the EQ curve of the preset when it was loaded - looks like I was mistaken.

And yes you're right I can definitely hear the change - on my L1 compact I've been experimenting with different acoustic guitars into channel 2 and the tonematch preset does pretty much what I would do an as engineer: high pass, mid cut and sounds like there's some polarity reverse going on in there as well It's not exactly what I would do but it's pretty close which is very impressive given that it's a generic preset for all steel string/piezo pickup guitars.

I look forward to learning more about the T1 and tonematch concept in the future!
