Jbl eon 615 vs f1 812

I need help to compare jbl eon 615 with f1 812 technically,  which is better and why.. thanks

Hi Tarek,

The most meaningful way to compare loudspeakers is to listen to them. Looking at the technical data these two loudspeakers are so close on paper, you cannot make meaningful projections about the differences you can expect in a performance setting.

Significant differences

  • Coverage patterns: This is the biggest difference.
    • Vertical coverage
      • Bose F1 Model 812: Selectable
        • 0 degrees
        • -20 degrees
        • 20 degrees
        • 40 degrees
      • JBL EON615
        • Fixed: 60 degrees
    • Horizontal coverage
      • Bose F1 Model 812: 100 degrees
      • JBL EON615: 90 degrees
  • Crossover
Bose uses the eight-speaker flexible array instead of a tweeter. This is an engineering design to provide pattern control (see above) and clear, natural sounding vocals. There is a qualitative difference that doesn't come through when comparing the numbers. You need to listen to the loudspeakers to know which you will prefer.
    • Bose F1 Model 812: 600 Hz
    • JBL EON615: 1.8 kHz

Too close to compare on paper

  • The output numbers are so close, it's probably not worth discussing the differences
    • Examples:
      • Power from the amplifier(s) to the speaker drivers
        • Bose F1 Model 812 power 1000 watts continuous
        • JBL EON615 power (350 watts 150 watts continuous)
      • Loudness
        • Bose F1 Model 812: 126 dB SPL (132 peak)
        • JBL EON615: 127 dB SPL (not specified if this is peak)

I agree with ST. After reviewing all the specs, in the final analysis it’s what sounds best to your ear.

@CityFolk , @ST actually i don't have the opportunity to listen to the jbl and i already have bose f1 , but i saw jbl yesterday and i'am really sad cause mine doesn't have bluetooth,

I understand why you might want Bluetooth integration with a powered loudspeaker. Fortunately, you can get inexpensive third-party Bluetooth receivers and use them with your Bose F1 Model 812.

and also i think jbl is much Durable,

I don't know how to address your observation about durability. Have you had a problem with your F1 Model 812?

do i wanted to make sure that bose is better or not and if the 2 ways is better or 8 drivers speakers..

Better - is a concept to be taken in context.

How are you using your F1 Model 812?

  • Live music?
  • Recorded music?
  • What kinds of venues
    • Size of room
    • Number of people
    • Are people standing or seated
    • Is there a raised stage
    • Are all the people on the same level

Even if I had all the information above, I couldn't tell you which loudspeaker is better for you.

You can compare two loudspeakers in one setting for a specific purpose, and then compare them again in a different setting for a different purpose. You might have a different opinion about which loudspeaker is better.

If you get a chance to hear the JBL EON615 and the Bose F1 Model 812 side-by-side in the same setting, I'd be very interested to hear your impressions.

I have used JBL powered speakers for years.  I've been using Bose for a few months.  JBL spealers are probably the best in their price range, but to my ear, Bose is far superior.  I play folk and jazz with a lot of vocals and I think Bose handles vocals better.  I agree that the style of music you play may make a difference.  There is a certain amount of subjectivity when it comes to sound.

I don't use bluetooth on gigs, sorry.

Dear @ST you, thank you soo much for your valuable infos i really appreciate.. actually i'm asking all this as if it's not a big difference the jbl is half price here.. what i really need to know in terms of sound engineering if the 8 drivers speakers inbose really matter and a big difference between it and the 2 way speaker with tweeters?

Bose has been using portable line array technology in the Bose L1 systems since 2003. They brought that technology to a different format with the F1 Model 812 and we get wider than normal horizontal coverage (110 degrees) By making the eight-driver array flexible, Bose makes it possible to have much tighter control over the vertical coverage.

If those features are useful to you, then having the flexible array can make a big difference, and it really matters.

i really like my bose it's very load and crisp but i didn't have a chance to try the jbl.. and when i knew that it has bluetooth and half price i was shocked .. and i have a last 2 questions ..

1 - if there is a lot of difference between the bluetooth 5 with aptx receiver and the normal bluetooth receiver? As the normal bluetooth is about 30 $ or less while the aptx version 5 is from about 70$ to 120$

I don't have any advice about Bluetooth devices but there is a lot of information on the web. For example:

The models that i saw

1 auris bluMe 119$

2 bludento blt-hd upgraded to 5 99$

3 aksonic aptx hd 70$

These are the best 3

The others are normal bluetooth receivers like belkin , esinkin and logitech..

2nd question is about the case of f1 is it good? And i can see that the speaker can be placed on the front panel i think it'll have dents this way

There are rubber strips on the surface that covers the speaker front (grille)

I use these bags and have had no problems.

, so i found a bag in Rockville.. do u think it's better? What's ur opinion?.. really sorry for all these questions and thank u for ur time and help

I haven't used any of the other bags, so can't offer an opinion.
