Just a little something to brighten your day

Hi Oldghm,

Thanks for sharing a few moments of your time with Leon Redbone.

This is a link to a Premier Guitar Rig Rundown for Mike Dawes. For those who mess with multiple tunings and percussion styles, knowing how his guitar rig is set up might be very interesting. He also uses a Bose T8s in his pedal board. Some off color language in the video.

Hi O..

Thanks for the link. I hadn't seen this one.

I met Mike Dawes in my favourite (english spelling) music store 2 or 3 years ago when he was doing a TWA (Tone Wood Amp) demonstration tour over here. I had the chance to have a really good chat with him before the event as we were both there pretty early.

You couldn't really hope to meet a nicer guy. He also let us try out his guitar with the TWA on it after the show. How many artists can you imagine doing that?

When I saw him he was using a T1 (the others weren't out at that time), but he said back then that he could really use more inputs. I see that he now has a T8S. He told me back then that the Bose was the best mixer for his needs as it fit on his pedal board and sounded really good.

As a solo artist he really impresses me, and you've got to be pretty good to be Justin Hayward's go to tour guitarist.

Take care,

Tony

This is an interesting piece of technology. What do you think?

O..

A few years ago I got one of these as a gift. The principle is the same as the device in the guitar. Although not refined specifically for the resonance of a guitar it works pretty good with recorded acoustic music.

I’ve seen it. I think it’s weird. I think there’s another company doing it too. I’m not ready to deal with that yet. It’s kind of a parlor trick on one hand, and a great tool on the other hand.

What's the...??  How does this thing actually work?

I've not come across this one before O..

Those appear to be transducers on the underside of the top of the guitar working in reverse. I.e. exciting the top of the guitar causing it to resonate and then being amplified by the natural amplifier which is the guitar body. Ingenious. I like the looper idea. You can take this guitar to a party or acoustic session and really have some fun.

Hi Tom,

I've a feeling that you might mean the ToneWoodAmp (or TWA as it's known for short).

TWA: Demo with Mike Dawes

I've  actually owned a TWA for about 3 years now and I wouldn't want to miss it. I actually met Mike Dawes when he Demoed it in my go to Music Store. I also have 2 guitars with the magnetic brace inside so that I can use it with more than 1 guitar.

I've explained the way I think it works in my answer to Oldghm's post.

Generally I think that I would prefer the TWA as I can use it on multiple guitars of my choice (must have a pick-up). The TWA unfortunately doesn't have a looper. I could imagine many people having loads of fun with either.

Tony

No, it was another acoustic guitar with built-in effects like this one.

Yamaha did this, but it is not as elaborate as the Lag HyVibe.

O..

It was sometime last year. I wish I could find it. It was in a YouTube video. It might have been the Lag, but I didn’t think it had Bluetooth or other input.

I found it. I was wrong. It was the Lag from last year's NAMM show. https://youtu.be/cGVUKvYG8-k

Here's a little something from Martin guitar. There is an S1 Pro being used by the keyboard player.

O..

Hi O..

thanks for this, until now I didn't have them on my Radar. May have something to do with living in Germany.

One of the best songs by one of our greatest modern song writers.  Thanks Oldghm.

Paul is clearly a genius. In that rare realm of songwriters like Lennon, McCartney and Dylan.

Thank you, @Oldghm ... couldn't agree more. My songbook has many Paul Simon songs ... he is a genius songwriter and guitarist.

Today I read the sad news that Kenny Rogers has left us ... so I sang The Gambler, Lucille and Coward Of The County to thank him for his music.

Here in Colorado, it's about hiking. This is a short way from my backyard during pre-social distancing days. With all the home bonding due to the coronavirus, it's soothing to have the great outdoor beckoning with its mountains, trees, clouds and clean air.

Thanks for this too O.. This is definitely a song for everyone on this planet today. Many of Paul Simon's songs are timeless and pertinent.
