Just a little something to brighten your day

I remember about nine years or so ago in Newport, RI watching Laurence Juber play directly in front of me without a microphone. He did Strawberry Fields and included the ending. It was incredible!

Yah, he's amazing.  Love the whammy bar vibrato he gets on an acoustic.

Really enjoyed that. Thanks O..

Check it out.

We've lost another great singer/songwriter Jerry Jeff Walker.

I was first introduced to his music in the early 70's by college students in a campus beer bar where I played.

I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to later open some shows for him in Lexington Ky.

We sat together with club employees and groupies afterwards and had a guitar pullin, singing old songs that weren't on his show playlist. I remember in particular, Can't Kick The Dust Off My Boots.

When the the owners ran us out of the venue, he invited us to continue the party at his motel. As I exited my truck in the motel lot I sat my guitar on the ground to lock the door. Jerry Jeff, walking by, picked it up and carried it toward the door. I said, "I've carried a star's guitar before, but never had one carry mine." He said, "It's all the same." and kept on walking.

RIP.

edit: He said the inspiration for Dust on My Boots came from sitting in the balcony of a movie theater in New Orleans with his feet propped on the seat in front of him looking at his dusty boots.

Another country poet has moved on. Billy Joe Shaver, made Waylon more famous with the songs on "Honky Tonk Hero"
