Karaoke Question

If I wanted to do a Karaoke show at a function is
there some type of license that i need to get.
I was thinking of going the mp3 g route ,but I
want be doing it at every function but only if
the crowd is up to it. I am still a DJ at heart
and not trying to be a full-time KJ. I just
would like to make a function or two interesting.

Hi. I have karaoke available if the client wants it and I am a KJ one night a week at a local spot. I use OTS/AV DJ software and it works great for both karaoke and DJ. You don’t need a license but you have to purchase tracks either MP3 G or CD’s that you can convert in the OTS program. You need a TV I have a small flatscreen for play back I carry around. Have fun. Randy

Thanks Randy for your response. I am going to
research the karaoke options thats available.
Maybe there is a Karaoke pool available for DJs
somewhere out there.

I learned all I needed to get going by reading the forums at karaokescene dot com been reading them since 2004

Good, but late morning Ken. No licensing required. Many have said for years that every hard set (Original CD) you can have (1) back up. Now with the digital age I haven’t checked if this still holds true. I assume since you want to zip the MP3 with the CDG track you are utilizing software such as Virtual DJ or similar? It’s not hard to do at all. Just takes monotonous time. I’m in the middle of tagging 16,500 MP4 files via Tag & Rename software, then I have to jump to 200K CDG files and zip the majority of them. I hope by the end of the year the library is intact. Currently swamped by proms, & wedding season starts next week in Ohio. I need a twinSmile Practice & Enjoy.
