L1 Compact Tower: Pluggin an intrument into the mic channel, through a DI

I was wondering if--as long as it's going through a DI first--there would be any issue with plugging an instrument into the mic input.  I have a gig coming up that only requires instrumental music--just a guitar and banjo.

Was thinking of running the guitar through the instrument input, as usual, and then running the banjo through a LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI which would then come out as an XLR plugging into the mic input.  I do have a bulky mixer that I could use to send both instruments into the instrument input, but I'd prefer not to lug it around if I don't need to.

Also, I know I could also just play the banjo into a mic, but I much prefer playing it through its pickup.

I appreciate any input anyone might have.

Hello BanjoBilly,

There is no technical reason you couldn't do this.  Channel 1 on the L1 Compact is a mic level input, so using a DI box will properly provide a mic level signal.

Just be aware, channel 1 uses a ToneMatch preset suitable for a dynamic vocal mic, so it might not sound just the way you want -- you'll just have to try it to see if the sound is suitable for you.

Does that help?
