I am the owner of two L1 Classic systems. I'm still using them routinely. I've been looking at the L1 Model II and the F1 systems as replacements. My L1 Classics will become backup and secondary systems when I need to setup in multiple locations at one venue. My question is probably an odd one...
Does anyone think the text on the Power Stand is facing the wrong direction? On my Classic, I go around to the back of the power stand, fold the door open and the text for all the input and output ports reads correctly.
On the Model II, based on the photos, it looks like the text would be upside down if you were at the back of the L1. That seems weird to me. It's certainly not the end of the world, but I think I would have elected to have the text upright when you're standing or crouching at the back instead of the way Bose designed the Model II.
Here's my guess..... and it may mean nothing. I have this system and every time I have used it as a solo or duo (never anything bigger than that) it has been at a hotel or restaurant where there is a wall behind me. Very close behind me. I cannot get behind the unit - so indeed it works best for my eyes to see while my butt is to the audience. Was Bose thinking in this regard? No idea - but it's fine with me.
I once put the classic on reserve duty ... now it's back in the starting lineup along with a second one I bought. My L1M2 sits on the bench, hoping to be put into a game some day. Long live the Classic !
I’m with Scott. I rarely view the M2 from behind, always in front. The Classic on the other hand has all those nice extra inputs/outputs in the back that makes sense to orient the text towards the back.
I loved my classic, but love the lighter, smaller base of the M2 especially in trips to/from the car! ??
By the time the L1 Model II was in development, Bose had observed owners using the L1 systems as designed (behind the performers) were viewing it from the front.
Aside:
When Bose migrated all the mixer functions from the power stand to the T1 ToneMatch Audio Engine, there was very little need to read anything on the power stand. The only things you might confuse are the Bass Line Out and the Analog Input.
Okay. Thanks all. As a DJ the way I would use and position the L1 is different than the way a musician would use and position it. Maybe Bose could make all the text rotate like the Bose Logo does on the subwoofer.
