I have a Compact and a M2 which I plan on replacing with a Pro series model. I am trying to determine the best one for my needs. I am specifically interested in the bass response of the Pro8 and Pro16.
The bass response of the Compact was weak and I always used a Behringer powered sub to supplement, mainly for a better bass guitar sound and a better kick drum sound (guitar and bass duo with backing tracks). The Model2 was much better, but when using it with a 5 piece band, we still used the Behringer sub with 2 B1s which made a noticeable difference.
So .... for those who have tried out the Pro series, what is the bass response like? How does it compare to the Compact and/or the Model2 with 2B1s? More power? Louder? Deeper? I’m looking for a bass response you can “feel” as well as “hear”, if you know what I mean.
I had the 8 for a week and then returned it because the 16 became available, which I now have. I've only set the 16 up in my sizeable back yard to test it out. I literally turned it up half way with backing tracks and had to stop there because it was so loud. The bass was seriously thumping. I will have a better summary tomorrow after my first gig with it. I usually use the Classic with two B1 and a B2 via packlite amp... That setup has been the most incredible sound one could hope to produce with plenty of bass. I also have the M2 but don't use it because of the compression that kicks in when you push it. The Pro8 I did use for a couple of gigs, and though rated at only 240 watts to the sub and 60 watts to the array, it indeed put out some serious sound and superb bass, far surpassing anything else rated at that, and far far beyond a compact.
