First off I am very new all of this so I may not get my terminology right.
I have the L1 Pro16 and the TS8 Mixing board. I got it mostly for Acoustic setups. I now want to plug in my electric guitar. I did that with no luck. I am told unlike my acoustic electric, I don't have a preamp in my guitar so it won't work. With that said what do I need to buy so I can plug in the electric. One person said I can bring my guitar amp, and take the output of that into the Bose but I would rather not cary that with me too. Someone else said get a Boss M80 and that would work. Help! I just want to play a few songs on the electric via the Bose.
Hello debotton,
I can't think of any reason your electric guitar wouldn't work in your T8S if it works in your guitar amp. I run my tele straight into my T8S without any pre's or stompboxes.
Are you getting a good gain (green light flashing) on the channel you're using? I know I have to turn the gain higher for my tele than for my Taylor acoustics or Shure mics. Have you tried different channels? Does your guitar & cable still work in your amp?
Make sure you're using the same cable you would normally use with your amp, and be sure you're plugging in to the center of your channel's XLR/1/4" combo jack. I was stumped once until I found I'd accidentally plugged into one of the aux outs instead of the channel jack, then I was just plain embarrassed!
Hope you enjoy your new setup!
Does that help?
Like Fish, I'm thinking there's no reason you shouldn't be able to use your electric guitar without lugging another amp. Check out this video by Gary Roberts, who demos a few electric guitars plugged directly into his Pro8, not even a Tonematch. Bose L1 Pro8 - Electric Guitar Demo
