L1's cutting out before red LED

Just brought out my 2 L1 mkII's for a festival now.

First use in 2 years because of CV19.

I have had these for 11 years. I am an experienced engineer and have done 100's of gigs with them, so, i know what i am doing.

Just did the sound for 3 nights of world music, no problem. The L1's were probably at 60%-70% of max volume.

Tonight i had a DJ set going through them. I use audio inputs from my mixer. The red LED's never came on, so i guess i was i am near 90% of volume. Both of the L1's cut out repeatedly!! So i had to back of a few dB.

This is disappointing. For years i hit them hard, no drama, the red clip input light on many many times.

 

I was going to use them next week for a prestigious festival.

Now i am having second thoughts.

IF i had the money i'd go for the L1 PRO's, but i don't have the funds.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear this is happening. 

Which mixer are you using, and what type of cable connections do you have from the mixer to the L1s?

Is power cutting out on the systems, or just audio?

turned out it was the power supply. 
It was a solar system at a festival. 
on the DJ set I j rigged up 6 DXR speakers to boost the sound and the total peak power was higher than the 12v - 240v inverter. 
the L1’s took the hit before the DXR’s every time for some reason
