Large Group

Evening All,
I have a wedding in a couple weeks that started off with approx 150 people and has grown to 260.

Will my L1 2B1 be enough for this size group? My weddings are normally from 100 to 150 people and I have never done a group of this size since purchasing the bose system.

No problem

You’ll be fine, but personally right around 200-250 is when I use two L1’s in stereo. Just personal preference. I’ve done a 300 person wedding with a single L1.

Unless the room is a gym sized room, it should work great. That is all I use and I have used it in large rooms.

thanks everyone, I was a little worried but my faith has been restored Smile

Cheers

Keep the faith, John. They will never let you down.

As others have mentioned, you’ll be fine.

The only time you’ll have trouble is when you mention you did an event for 260 people with one tower to other DJs on other boards. Smile It’ll drive them nuts.
They won’t believe you when you tell them how much your client and their guests loved the sound.

But we know

300 guests in a good sized room last night. 1 L1 2 B1 and it rocked. A little adjustment based on some songs but other than that, 1 side preset 00 the other 58.

Is this the correct setting? I have been putting both at 58? Is there a big difference by leaving one at 00 ?

Why oo and 58 I've using both on 58. Is there any benefit form oo?

This is one of the ways Cap suggested to use them. One side will be a little more Bass and the other not as much. You could go either way. Both at 00 or both at 58 or 1 at each.

Split L1 settings with 58 and 00!
An interesting concept.
Could that provide more noticeable separation when running in stereo?
Could split settings limit the cancellation problems encountered when you have 2 L1 running in mono?

Can’t wait for the real experts to weigh in on this.

Goodness, Lou, try it yourself. It's your ears, your performance, and your testing criteria. You already are a real expert.

Cap,
IMHO, You and ST are the definitive experts here. My ears are shot from this business and my other career. I have severe tinnitus plus my ears react negatively to high range EQ adjustments. My wife usually assists me with my sound checks or I use what worked at the same venue before.
I would rather have a "real" expert opinion on both questions before experimenting at an event.

Lou: The greatest mistake various posters make on this and other forums is assuming the person making purported expert audio opinions and statements does has perfect (recently tested) hearing.

One fella on the Talk forum bashed BOSE under two different names, even stating that he owned them. In another forum, he cops out to having dramatic hearing loss (and only used 1 B1 per L1, yet blasted the system’s lack of bass).

Sorry about your sensitivity to high end. My only hearing defect is an aversion to EXCESSIVELY LOUD as though volume is some measure of testosterone or DJ quality.!

ok, so for large events where i really want to see what one L1M1 and 2 B1s can do, if I am going into channel 3 with the T1, what is the highest you would set the channel 3 knob on the base to? I have heard 3 or 4. Can we go higher safely, assuming we’re not pushing it to the limit from the mixer to begin with?
