I'm considering getting the Lifestyle 650 to use with a Samsung HDTV (no HDR, so hopefully I'll avoid those issues for awhile) and an Apple TV 4k.
I really like using the Apple TV remote as the everyday remote (only time I grab the TV remote is when I need to switch inputs in the rare case where I'm using an Xbox One X, which we only do maybe once every week or two.)
With the Lifestyle 650, will I be able to keep doing this? Can it be set up to automatically power on/"wake up" when I hit menu or whatever on the Apple TV remote? (My TVs do this.)
Hello DiscountProtagonist! Thanks for posting and welcome to the Community.
Great question! That depends on a number of things like the particular manufacturer's CEC (they all operate similarly, but as there is no industry standard there are frequently differences that make it somewhat questionable from a reliability standpoint) and the fact that the Apple remote does not communicate via IR so it may be that it does not get a signal to the Lifestyle 650. I do not have an AppleTV to test, otherwise I'd be more than willing to check that use case. It might be worth asking sales staff at an authorized retailer to try. I'm sure the rest of the Community here would be interested to know what you find!!
