Lifestyle 650 rename HDMI sources to custom name

Hi All,

We have some custom set top boxes that deliver a mixture of satellite and IPTV.    Having bought a number of Lifestyle systems explicitly for the ability to handle and integrate remote control for numerous HDMI sources, and take this duty away from the commercial Smasung 690U TV as well as add premium sound and hardbutton remote, it now seems I can't quite do what I assumed would be an easy, common requirement.

I have 2 sources:
1. LiveTV (this is a Set Top Box: Infomir MAG410 with custom APK and home page, but all MAG models share same remote control so unify settings for MAG323 work fine)

2. AppleTV4k

Having set everything up, my Bose Remote now lists 3 sources:
1. Set Top Box  (which I would like to rename to "LiveTV", our custom mixture of Satellite and IP TV)
2. Apple TV

3. TV (which doesn't do anything as the TV doesn't handle sources anymore)

So, obviously I'd like to rename the top option, and remove the 3rd, which does very little.   This is a 7* resort, with varying guests and not always tech savvy, but it's critical that the remote source naming makes everything very obvious and overly simple.  Guests pressing "TV" and getting a "no signal" or black screen then calling guest services is not a good thing.  I appreciate this is a commercial setting and I'm using consumer kit, but if we could the renaming as per the above, and stop "TV" from being displayed, the system would be perfect.

I've read a previous post on this, and sounded like Bose were looking at a firmware update to deliver:

Is this a feature update that is being actively worked on?

Many Thanks,

Dom

Any update on this?  Having spent approaching $20k on Lifestyle systems, a response from a Bose rep would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dom

To add to this:  one of the Lifestyle systems UNITY is refusing to control AppleTV via HDMI-CEC.

It has all latest updated, and now can discover and see correct latest model, and add to the source list, and even switch source to the AppleTV, but control is non-existent.

Hello Dom! Thanks for posting and welcome to the Community.

With regard to your TV source, if you run the UNIFY setup again you should be able to remove the unused source. For the Lifestyle 650 that isn't sending command via CEC, you might try setting the CEC to "Alternate" and see if that improves communication. It would be worth mentioning at this point that CEC protocols vary widely by manufacturer as there is no industry standard and may behave in unexpected ways. If this become an issue (future TV updates, etc.) we recommend connecting the TV to the console via optical audio cable.

Best Regards,
