Linking a T4S-PC-L1 Pro8 for streaming on Google Meet

Hi Community Members, would someone be able to help me connecting the following set up for streaming on “GOOGLE-MEET”

 

T4s - L1 Pro8 - Laptop

 

I am using a Dell XPS Windows 10 Laptop. Have tried various routing ways but unable to get anywhere. Audio/Music to the end listeners has various issues:

  • Distorted
  • Lagg
  • Echoing etc… etc…

Currently using a Shure Beta 58A Microphone which I run through the T4S and have connected the T4S to the PC using a USB Type A - USB Type B. 

 

The T4S is Powered through the L1 Pro8. 

 

At the Moment, I am able to hear the Microphone and Music all through the L1 Pro8 (Via the T4S) without a problem but end listeners on the GOOGLE MEET platform have the issues mentioned above.

 

Any help would be much appreciated.

I don't have any direct experience with Google Meet, but the problems you've described are somewhat typical for remote meeting platforms when using more than a laptop webcam and internal microphone.

 

I would say that your Bose equipment and Windows laptop are performing exactly as they should, and that is what you are hearing.  However, transmitting that out over the internet may be overwhelming Google's ability to process a high-quality audio stream instead of a simple voice through the laptop's built-in mic.  I suspect this is the main contributor, as I found no way to adjust the audio settings in Google Meet other than choosing your sound source.  (You are choosing "Bose Audio" for both your speaker and microphone in the Google Meet settings, correct?) Also, the listener's experience depends highly on their internet connection, which you have no control over.

 

I know that the Zoom meeting platform allows you to change a number of parameters, such as quality level and stereo/mono, in an effort to minimize the bandwidth required.  Facebook Live streams fairly efficiently, but highly compresses the video and audio (it converts stereo to mono automatically.)  I haven't tried other platforms (such as WebEx or GoToMeeting) so I can't comment on those.

Thank you so much for your thoughts for the issue I am facing. Have been spending some time on the set up and via Dell’s sound mixer options have been able to tweak the end listener experience a bit but still work in progress. 

 

One of the better solutions I have come up with is Facing the L1 Pro8 in the opposite direction i.e. the back panel facing me during live streaming. Bit unconventional but has helped reducing massive amount of feedback and quality of Vocal to the end listeners. I am currently using a Shure Beta58A as a microphone and guess due to the razor sharp sensitivity of the equipment and microphone, there is a lot of feedback and hence the directional change of the speaker.

Thanks for coming back to let everyone know what is working for you.

 

A question that I didn't ask before:  Are you sharing a performance where you have a live local audience that needs louder volume (thus creating the feedback), along with those participating by Google Meet?  If so, I understand the need to turn the L1 to limit feedback.

 

If not, there might be a couple of other possibilities, just in case you want to test them:

  • Set up Aux Outs 1 & 2 for your T4s channels, then send those Aux Outs 1 & 2 to the "USB to PC" (instead of Master).  Details for that are outlined at USB B to PC.  This lets you adjust the Aux volumes going from the T4s to the laptop higher, separately from a lower Master volume going to the L1 via the ToneMatch cable.
  • You could also connect from the T4s stereo headphone jack to channel 3 on your L1 Pro8.  You'd need two things for this -- a ToneMatch power supply and a cable:  1/4" TRS to 1/8" TRS, like this:

    (NOTE:  Do not use a 1/4" TRS to 1/4" TRS cable -- the L1 Pro8's channel 3 1/4" jack is balanced, while the 1/8" jack is stereo.  The power supply would be required because you wouldn't use the ToneMatch cable (otherwise it would still send a signal to the L1).  Then you'd use the Master knob to set a higher volume going from the T4s to the laptop, and the Phones knob to set a lower volume going to the L1.

As I said, it seems like you have something that works for you.  I shared the other solutions in case readers face similar situations.
