So sorry if this has been asked as I have searched but can't find an exact answer. Is it possible to link up a Bose S1 with another type of speaker (i.e. soundlink revolve or similar) that is also bluetooth compatible?
What I am trying to achieve is, a care home have asked me to perform outside with my Bose S1 while the people inside can open the patio doors & windows and watch the show from a safe distance.
Now at the moment they can just open the doors & windows and listen, but if it rains or is a chilly day, they still want to be able to hear me with the windows and doors shut.
So my idea is, I would leave a small speaker like a soundlink on their doorstep that they can take indoors and listen to the show while watching through the window, and then they would leave it back outside for me to wipe down and sanitise when the show is over.
Is there a way I can make this work or is the only solution to lug about 2 x Bose S1's? I appreciate any advice on this. Many thanks.
While connecting a Soundlink revolve might be possible, I can't imagine using it in place of an S1, if you have the S1.
While I am guilty of wanting a new S1 Jr. half the size of the S1 I would still prefer to use 2 S1's over the alternative of a speaker that is really designed for recorded music, not live.
I say treat the folks inside to the same quality sound and even dispersion that you get.

You CAN use the Bose Connect app to send Bluetooth audio from a tablet or phone to two Bose devices (e.g. S1 Pros, SoundLink Revolve). You cannot share the audio from the physical inputs on the S1 Pro with another Bluetooth device using the built-in Bluetooth functionality.

Good for you!
I'm doing shows at care homes too. We are setting up outside and people open their windows and come out on their balconies.

With a little ingenuity and adapters, you could connect the S1 Pro line out to a Bluetooth transmitter - and send the output to a Bluetooth enabled loudspeaker (e.g., SoundLink Revolve).

For people who can hear you in-the-air, if they can also hear the Bluetooth loudspeaker, there will be a noticeable and annoying latency between the live sound and the Bluetooth sound.

Whether you use one S1 Pro and one SoundLink Revolve or two S1 Pro systems you would still need to get a third-party Bluetooth transmitter to send the sound from the S1 Pro (to which you connect your microphone and instrument) to the second Bluetooth loudspeaker.
To avoid the latency you would get with Bluetooth, you can use a wired connection. I understand that complicates things considerably.
Thanks you. I only wanted something smaller because firstly they are in a little lounge just sitting and listening, as if they were listening to the radio or watching TV. Secondly I don't really want to carry too much from the car and do it in one trip if possible, so something small I can fit in a bag would have been ideal.
Thank you ST. I was also thinking ahead, because if it get's to Xmas and they are still only allowing garden shows, then I am happy to wrap up warm and perform, but need to make sure they can still hear me clearly from the safety of indoors with all the windows shut.
Thanks for your input. I didn't realise about latency with bluetooth. running a long lead IS an option because you would only need a little crack in a window. So could I expand on this then and if I get a long lead, can I attach it from the line out on my S1 to a smaller Bose speaker located inside the buidling?

The 1/4 inch (6.3mm) Tip-Sleeve jack (bigger one) goes to the S1 Pro line out.
The 1/8 Tip-Ring-Sleeve jack (smaller one) goes to a Bluetooth transmitter. I would use a long-range transmitter. The inexpensive ones typically are only good for up to 10 meters (30 feet). That's not going to be good enough for your application.
I have a SoundLink Revolve and it's pretty good at filling a small room with sound. If I were to do this, I'd probably put the SoundLink Revolve in a plastic bag. The sound will come through fine and you can still use the volume controls. But that would simplify keeping it clean.

NOTES:
You have to turn up the S1 Pro fairly loud to get a strong signal out of the S1 Pro Line Out (and then through the SoundLink Revolve).
If the cable from the S1 Pro to the SoundLink Revolve is longer than 20 feet (6 meters) you could end up with line noise.
Since you are providing sound to people who cannot hear you through the air, the latency may not be a big issue. If you can get a long-range Bluetooth transmitter for a good price, that may be a better solution. There will be a disconnect visually though. They will see you singing a few moments before they hear you.
Thank you ST. I did post a reply but it disappeared. I may have spoken to you last week but I was looking for a solution to singing in care homes. I currently sing in the garden with the doors and windows open and they listen to me inside. However in colder weather with the doors closed i need to be able to sing outside and they still hear me inside. My initial thought was to attach a revolve via a cable or bluetooth and pass it in to them.
But I sometimes perform in residential areas so wanted to keep the sound down in the garden so as not to upset their neighbours. The headphone thing was an idea that doesn't work as the sound still comes out of the speaker.
However I think the problem is resolved. If they take the actual S1 inside and I connect the Mic and Headphones with a 10m lead, I can perform outside with headphones on and they can hear the show inside. All they need is to leave one window slightly ajar to pass my mic and headphone lead through. Not ideal, but the only workable solution don't you think?

At your (performer end) are you using only one microphone? Are you singing a capella or are you playing an instrument too?
If the people inside turn down the volume on the S1 Pro, that also turns down the signal from the S1 Pro LINE OUT. That will affect the volume of your headphones and you may not be able to hear yourself.
You have all the pieces at your end (microphone, cables, headphones). How does it work for you when you try it?
Morning. I will either use the ipod backing tracks on bluetooth or aux cable. The others all on cable. So the S1 will be inside the venue and I have up to 3 long wires leading outside. One to my mic, one possibly to my ipod and one to headphones so I can listen to the backing track when I'm singing. I tried it today with a 3M headphone lead and the volume turned to quarter and could hear the backing track well enough to sing along to, but I was only in the next room.
I'm going to order the leads today to test my theory from outside the house and will let you know when I've done some tests. Should I order TS to TRS or TRS to TRS? Do you think 10m should really be the max? I'd go longer if I can but I'll wait to hear your thoughts on the type of lead and then I'll get them ordered and see if it works. Many thanks.
Of course ST has given you spot-on advice as always ...
I'd like to add that IF a small Mixer is an option for you to go with, please do strongly consider it, as it'll not only simplify things greatly, but give you complete control for now & future ... not to mention some extra gain. You'll even be able to control the headphone volume independently from the S1 Volume and have the headphones much louder as the mixer will have it's own headphone amp.
Hoping a Mixer is not a constraint ... Since dragging leads over a distance is an option for you, you could drag a power extension box from within the complex to your station ... power your mixer & any other peripherals and be good to go. The S1 of course is "self-sufficient" in the power dept.
Please let us know which solution you opt for and how your gig goes.
Thanks Prakash. Yes I don't know what I would have done without ST's advice over the last week. Myself and fellow entertainers are struggling to come up with solutions to the current lockdown problem while still trying to provide entertainment to the old folk while social distancing. Buying a battery operated PA instead of my old plug in one was the first step, and things were going well until the rain started and then it brought up a new problem. They normally provide a sheltered spot outside and I can perform at the window but they still need to hear me and I think this may be the solution.
I had considered a mixing desk, and may have to go down that route, but it will be interesting to test this out and I will certainly feedback on here once I have performed and share my findings, which I'm sure you will be interested to hear.
