Low end frequency comes and goes

I have a Bose L1 Model 1S with B1 module and Tone Match Mixer.  Several months ago, I noticed that the low end seemed to randomly drop out, but not completely.   About 75% or so drops out, sometimes just for a while and then comes back on and sounds full, for a little bit then goes away again...  I’ve tried a brand new chord to the B1 cabinet and it didn’t make any difference.

I’ve read some forum posts, where it looks like others have had similar experience, and I believe it is the power unit.  From what I gather, it’s not something that can be fixed by DIY.  Is that safe to say?

I don’t think there are any authorized service centers near me, so I would have to send it off to be fixed….with shipping and repair costs, I was considering buying a new unit…or factory rebuilt or something….  I can’t find anyone that sells just the power unit only.  Do you know where I can purchase one online?

And/or….would the Bose A1 Packlite power amplifier module be an option?  Would that work to power the B1, even if the power unit isn’t working properly?

I’d appreciate any advice that you have on options to getting that full sound back.

Hi, BLeeP,

I'm sorry you're having a problem with the low-end.

I’ve tried a brand new chord to the B1 cabinet and it didn’t make any difference.

You're right, the system should be serviced.

Please contact Bose Support. They can tell you about your service options. They can also tell you about how Bose handles shipping costs.

The L1 Model 1S doesn't have a bass line out, so there's no way to connect the A1 PackLite amp
