Just got the L1 Compact and T4S to use for my acoustic duo gigs (am the singer and have a guitarist). I have found the instructions and most youtube videos a little frustrating. I know there will be a learning curve, but all I want to do right now is come up with the right settings for my mic.
I have a Telefunken M80 and there is no mic setting for that. Anyone know what the best selection would be? After that, I want a little reverb, some compression and no hissing or popping. not a whole lot to ask for, but I can't figure it out. For instance. I am trying to set the reverb and no matter what type or level of mix and brightness I choose, there is no difference in mic effect. Nothing is muted and I'm plugged into and on channel 1. Can it be this hard????!!!!!
If someone can layout some best practice settings and help with my reverb problem, I would really appreciate it! Thanks.
Hello Harrison,
Congratulations on your L1 Compact and T4s.
I don't have any particular suggestions about settings for the Telefunken M80. There have been several discussions on this forum in the past, but no conclusions. The ToneMatch presets are starting points, but not absolutes. There's a great explanation of Bose's development of their presets here, and steps to follow for finding your best settings here.
For your T4s, please make sure you are running the latest firmware (your T4s might have been sitting on a warehouse shelf and not have the latest updates applied.) You can find instructions and a link to the update files here. There were adjustments to the reverb engine after the T4s was first released. If you do perform an update, just be sure to do a T4s reset (last step of the instructions) to ensure the updates take effect.
Make sure that besides applying reverb to your vocal channel, you choose a reverb type in the global settings. There's a great tutorial for setting reverb here.
Enjoy trying out all the options. You'll find that listening to yourself with an L1 system will be different!
Does that help?
Thanks, Fish-54! Appreciate all the info! Will give it a go and let you know. Great point on the firmware update and the unit maybe sitting around for awhile -- I will take a look at all of this and do the update and let you know how I make out.
Appreciate all your help!
