Monitoring with T8S

How do I connect monitors to the mixer T8S, and how do I adjust the volume for the monitors?

Hi Robert,

It's nice to see you here. Thank you for joining the Bose Pro Portable PA Community.

This is a great question and I'm sure others will want to know.

  •  Connect your monitors to the T8S Aux Outputs. On the T8S you have four Aux Outputs. You can direct any channel to one of the Aux Outputs to create a monitor mix
  • As you assign a channel to an Aux Output, you can set the level and make the Aux send from the channel:
    • Dry (direct from the Preamp with no processing)
    • Pre (volume is NOT controlled by the channel volume)
    • Post (volume is controlled by the channel volume)

I just added notes about this in this article:

T4S / T8s ToneMatch Mixer Aux Outputs

Does that help?

If using an s1 pro as a monitor (playing solo..acoustic guitar and vox with L1 M2 and t8s)..would it be okay to just use the phones 1/4 inch to one of the inputs on the s1 pro rather than using an aux out?  Would this be the easiest/quickest way to adjust the volume to the wedge monitor rather than fiddling with an aux volume?

Thanks!

Hi Willy,

Sure that will work and you're right. It's more convenient.

Note: Use a 1/4" (6.3mm) Tip-Sleeve cable. NOT a Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable.

The ToneMatch mixer headphone out is stereo and the S1 Pro input is balanced mono. This is not a problem if you use a Tip-Sleeve cable.

Thanks ST!

Another quick question:

I've been using the S1 pro a lot lately (no t8s..just acoustic and mic straight into s1 pro)..and am getting really used to the sound... Anyone just go straight into the s1 pro then OUT to the L1 M2?  Curious if the L1 M2 would have that same S1 pro sound if set up this way?  (There is this one bar I play where this set up, for various reasons, would actually help me out)

Thnx!

Technically, there's no reason not to do this. For best results, use a 1/4" (6.3mm) Tip-Ring-Sleeve cable to maintain a balanced connection from the S1 Pro Line Out to the L1 Model II Analog Input.

I find that people tend to run more reverb into small speakers (e.g., S1 Pro) than is necessary with the full sized L1 systems.  You may not want the same sound coming from both. But go ahead and check it out. Please let us know what you hear.

Thanks,
