Just checking in, folks – I’m now a frequent visitor to the Bose Forum, having just acquired a mint-shape L1 Model II system (Tonematch and B1) that I can’t wait to gig with (this weekend). I’m in the Seattle area. I’ve used a Fishman SA220 for years and have been very happy with it, and still think that for $1,000, it’s the best bang for the buck out there, but this new Bose system is a clear step up, no question at all. I’ll be playing a Composite Acoustics GX with a Fishman Prefix T pickup, through a Zoom G3 multi-effects unit and a Boomerang III looper (all loops live). My mic is a Heil PR35 and goes through a TC Electronic Mic Looper, so I sing harmonies on a number of songs with my live-looped lead vocal. A few originals (on iTunes) and everything from Beatles, Neil Young and the Eagles to John mayer, Jack Johnson, Train, Jason Mraz and more.
My only real concern with this system is being too close to it, since a lot of my venues are pretty tight, stage-wise, but I’ve looked into that and since my volumes won’t have to be high in these same venues, I don’t anticipate much of a problem, really.
Anyway I’m probably going to be checking this “Solo” forum often because you’re all doing what I do. One other question I might have for you solo giggers is how often you use different “scene” settings. I regularly play 5-6 venues and I really don’t think the acoustic dynamics among them are going to vary that much. But I suppose too that once I get miore familiar with the system and the specific T1 settings, I might tweak things here and there and end up with a number of unique scene settings for slightly different venues. Thoughts on that? Thanks in advance…

Howdy Neighbour! I’m just up the I5.

That’s a lot of looping to manage. Trying to get my head around that.

I’ve done lots of shows on very tight stages. If I can’t get in front of the L1® (shallow stage) I stand beside it. Just make sure that you don’t have the microphone aimed at the Cylindrical Radiator®.
More tips here:
See: Microphone Feedback in the wiki.
Also, for acoustic guitar, if I’m standing beside the L1® I try to keep the bass module on the other side of the L1®. And avoid putting the bass module in a corner. That will tend to exaggerate the bass in unpleasant ways.

I have scenes for different hardware setups rather than for different venues.
I don’t find that I have to change very much from venue to venue.
I hope that helps.

Thanks, Steve; you’ve already helped me a ton – very much appreciated. I’m using my “new” Bose L1 M-II system tonight and can’t wait!
Very late coming in and replying, but wanted to throw in my 2¢ worth. Bose is amazing when it comes to a lot of things, and the ability to be in some very tight spaces is just one of them, but a BIG one of them. I have played venues very successfully where the space is only as if I had just one other person behind me. The footprint can actually be that small. Since looping is now pretty much a normal now, I will add that if you do some complex looping (as you described) it can really put your sound over the top. Some creative and complex looping, if well thought out AND CLEAN can put your performance into WOW mode. I do a version of Hotel California acoustically that is mind boggling (even still to me) as I stack three guitar parts and using Ditto Mic Looper to stack three voices. I have often gotten standing ovations for this…so keep at it and working on it! As far as scene saving on the T1, I have only three venues (out of many) that are so differential that I require them saved as a separate scene. As said already here, most venues only require a small amount of tweaking between them. Bose is just amazing and has me spoiled rotten. I will never go back to conventional PA systems…ever. Let us know how it’s all going for you.
I’ll chime in. I use a compact w/t1. I have 1 scene that I use which has all my guitars and a vocal mic tweeked and I just adjust a reverb for the room and it’s that simple.
