I recently received my L1 model 2 with tonematch and B2. It’s set up in the lounge room at home and takes up no more room than a small combo guitar amp. I’m getting very pleasing results with my Maton EM325 and Shure SM58 plugged into a TC Helicon GXT. The tone match is set for an SM58. I find the effects in the tonematch are nicer than the reverb in the GXT and the guitar sound seems nicer through the GXT than using another channel on the tonematch with the steel string piezo setting. This is a bonus as it is freeing up a channel.
The big surprise is the sound quality of bass guitar (Squire Precision and appropriate setting tonematch setting). I reckon it’s every bit as good as my SWR/2x10 Trace Elliot).
I have owned 2 x Bose 802 series II for many years on their own and as mid/highs in a 2 way pa system. They have been great and still are. I believe this L1 system sounds even better and the simplicity of set up is fantastic. I’d like to put together a 3 or 4 piece country/blues/rock and roll band to play for receptions and Sunday afternoons at local pubs. I hope that one L1 system will be sufficient (at this stage) although if I sell of some of my other stuff could be tempted to buy a second L1 system.
Hi Laurie A,
Thank you for joining the Forum and congratulations on getting your L1® Model II with T1® and B2.
I had to look up West Gippsland to see where you are. Greetings neighbour! from the left coast of Canada!
I too was a long-time 802 owner before getting my first L1®.
Is this your TC-Helicon unit? TC-Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX
If so, then I have one of those too and I’ve found that the vocal path sounds better when I turn the GTX ToneStyle off. Here’s a link to my notes about using the VoiceLive Play GTX with a T1®.
Great news about the bass guitar sound. I’m glad that you’re enjoying that.
I think that for a “3 or 4 piece country/blues/rock and roll band to play for receptions and Sunday afternoons at local pubs” you’ll be happier running with two L1®s with T1®s. You can start with the L1® you have now and see how that goes but I think you’ll be looking forward to getting a second one.
Two Systems - a few thoughts:
Generally speaking, as you had more microphones… splitting these up over two systems tends to give you more gain before feedback.
Once you show someone else how to set up a Model II, then you and that someone else can be working in parallel and setup and teardown of two systems takes no longer than one.
" although if I sell of some of my other stuff could be tempted to buy a second L1 system."
As great as the 802s are, I doubt that you’ll be using them much going into the future. I cannot think of a situation (except a room with a very low ceiling) where I would use 802s when I have an L1® available.
Here are some ? ? ? ? ?? ?? ?? ? for you.

Hi neighbour,
Thanks for the reply. The TC Helicon I have is the Harmony GXT.
This afternoon I played with a band using traditional pa, horn loaded self powered 15" for FOH and three smaller monitors. The monitor sound was ok. When the second band was playing I noticed that about 15 metres away the instruments using their own amps and acoustic drums were overpowering the vocals. I suspect that even a single L1 model 2 system would have been better.
Hi Laurie, and welcome to the forums, nice to read your thoughts on the L1…I agree.

If you like the sound this way, you might try running the line out of your GXT or guitar amp into the Line Input on the power stand of your L1.
This way, you would get the 180 degree spread for your guitar, and still have that extra channel on the T1.
I sold all my old gear within a year of buying my first L1.
First, I tried to incorporate a lot of the traditional processors into the L1, but found it unnecessary.
Then I let it all go, and have never been sorry.
Look forward to reading about your progress.
Good to hear from you again D. I have my SM 58 and guitar plugged into the Harmony GXT and its line out goes to input no.1 of the T1 (with SM58 preset). I can mix the relative levels of vocal and guitar on the GXT. When playing the electric guitar (Tele type) I plan to use the ‘guitar through’ output to my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. The Hot Rod Deluxe is a single 12" combo with an open back and gives a good wide spread of sound - and I really like the sound of this amp. I plan to keep the drums acoustic and bass player use his own amp as bass is not very directional either. I’ll have a go at using the band construction tool to describe the layout. Cheers, Laurie.
