I use 2 S1 Pros linked together with speaker cable. Can't currently get Bose Connect to recognize my devices. Anyway, I transmit backing tracks via bluetooth and have recently developed bad rattle/rumble sound on low ends of both speakers, almost like a blown speaker. This happens at moderately high volumes but I have been using the same setup for 3 years with the same tablet sending the signal. Do I need to send them both in for some type of repair? Do Bose speakers "wear out" eventually?
Hey nuthinfancy12,
Welcome to the forum! Thanks for joining us.
Could the speakers be causing something else in the room to vibrate? If you haven't already, I recommend testing the speakers in a different listening environment to see if the issue persists.
If the rattling sound is definitely coming from the speakers themselves, I recommend checking none of the screws have come loose on the S1 speaker enclosures.
Hope this helps!
Thanks Dylan,
Rattle/distortion definitely coming from speakers. I've checked all the screws, played different environments and even made sure it wasn't speaker stands. Can tell up close that it is speaker, though oddly it seems one more predominantly troublesome than the other.
It occurred again today at a gig and volume was lower than usual. I'm stumped and hate to send both into Bose at once as I still have upcoming shows. Plus, of course, the cost and turnaround time being of concern as my jobs have dried up like everyone else's.
Was hoping it was some odd firm ware update glitch. Guess not.
Hi nuthinfancy12!
If the rattling is occurring for all tested input sources, this would sadly appear to be an internal issue with the system.
I advise testing the speakers individually to check whether this is definitely happening with both units, and recommend contacting Bose customer support to discuss available service options.
