Output Question

Is there a way to have more than one output from the L1 Model 2? As I see it, the Tone Match has one output. I use that for the input of my recorder. But there are times I would also need to connect my signal to a church’s system so they can also record and even have it in their PA. So, how do you do that without a Y? I haven’t wanted to use a Y because I’ve understood it to create a small degree of signal loss. I wonder it that’s really the case. Is a Y the only way to do this other than using another mixer of sorts? Have you heard if that really does create a noticeable signal loss?
Thanks…

Hi Kenny Carter,

On the T1® there are two ¼ inch jack outputs. This is in addition to the ToneMatch® output that you would typically use to connect to T1® to the Model II Power Stand. It sounds like you are using the analog Master Output to connect to your recorder.

There is an Aux output on the T1®. This allows you to create another mix (or clone the one you are getting out of the Master). You just need to know that the Aux output does not include reverb. You can read about that here: No Reverb on Aux

I would definitely try the Aux output instead of using a splitter.

That would make sense in your case because in your shoes, I would not want to send reverb to a house system, but rather, I would let the sound technician add reverb if it was considered necessary.

A splitter will definitely result in some signal loss, and possibly introduce unwanted noise.

Did that help?

Please accept my humble apology for the double post. It’s my first in 7 years and hopefully my last.

Yes, your reply was very good.
Thank you.

No need to apologize. No harm intended or done.

So do you think T1 ToneMatch® Audio Engine Aux Output will work for you?

I was actually asking on behalf of a friend of mine…I own the L1 Model 1/ToneMatch which is why I asked on here…

I think he rejected the AUX output method, due to the fact that he would have no control over the reverb with a sound person doing it. With only the AUX output, reverb would have to be applied to everything equally instead of individually.

In his words, "Well, adding reverb to the whole mix by the house “technician” is not a good idea. I only want reverb on the mics and I also use delay on the trumpet with the ToneMatch. That’s not possible with the aux output. Oh well."

Thanks for your responses.

Hi Kenny Carter,

Well you can use a splitter from the T1® ¼ inch jack Master Output, but there will be some signal loss.

There are also individual post-trim-only preamp-OUTS on the T1® Channels 1,2,3. These could be useful if your friend felt that the house technician would produce the mix according to your friend’s requirements. I’ll leave it there.
