Playing content from Bose Wave Soundtouch System IV through Soundtouch 10 speaker

I have a Bose Wave SoundTouch Music System IV and a Bose SoundTouch 10 Wireless Music System. I would like to play a CD on the Bose Wave SoundTouch IV and then have it play not only through the Wave speakers, but also in another room through the Bose SoundTouch 10 speaker. Is it possible to link the SoundTouch 10 to the Bose Wave IV in this manner? Thanks

Hi Walla,
The DAB adapter on some Wave products will not be possible to send out to other products via SoundTouch. The Internet Radio source on SoundTouch is the only type available for that product.
Thank you for your question.

Wish I had read this before buying the SoundTouch 10 speaker for my partner to listen to CDs playing on the Wave IV.Gross misrepresentation by Bose. There is nothing apart from this QandA that says CDs cannot be played through out the system, will be taking this further with the ASA.

Hi Bobat,
You can not stream CD source to other soundtouch system… You can only stream music from internet, music library and bluetooth to other soundtouch system.

Hi BobCat,
Agree with you totally. I just purchased a soundwave and soundtouch 10 in a package together and the fact that you can’t play to the soundtouch is stupid and I now feel quiet ripped off by bose. I’m sure there are lots of people who get caught by the promotions like this.
Regards
Ben

Hi Ben,

We apologize that the way the system works didn't match your original expectations. However there are alternatives to get whatever music you were interested in to play on both systems. A CD can be imported to a music library on your computer and played to both products that way. Similarly, most radio stations that the Wave system can play are also available through the Internet Radio source in the SoundTouch app, playable to both speakers.
Let us know if you have any questions about how this works or if you need any other help using your products. Thank you.

Only found this forum by chance because I was searching for tips on how to play CDs through the system.

can I play DAB radio on my soundtouch 10 speaker

Hi Bobat9210,
What that compatibility statement means is that the Wave SoundTouch system can be used in concert with any of our other products in the SoundTouch family (including that ST 10 you mentioned) to play streaming music sources from the SoundTouch app to multiple rooms of your house via Wi-Fi.
The best way to hear your CD on both systems together is to import that CD into iTunes or Windows Media Player on your computer.  Once added to your Music Library, you can play the desired album to either or both speakers from within the SoundTouch app.
Let us know if you need help setting up your music library on the computer. We are happy to assist further.
Thank you.

Another one feeling ripped off here.  I was sold this system based on the fact that I stated I wanted to be able to play CDs from a central system to various speakers throughout my house.  I was originally told I just needed the speakers and the app would play any music I had put onto it.  I pointed out I didn’t want to do that because I have hundreds and hundreds of CDs and no time to put them all on a digital format.  I was told the only way around it was to buy the Wave Soundtouch iv which would allow me to play my CDs directly from the CD player to all my speakers.  Now I find out that was all a lie!!
What is the point of paying nearly $1000 for this extra piece of equipment that apparently does nothing more than the $250 speaker???

I am with Ben a complete misrepresentation and whilst there is a work around it makes a mockery of the system.  I want to be able to put a CD on my Soundtouch System IV and play it through my Soundtouch 20 this is what I understood compatible meant not take a 4 stage rip, store, reload and play what a time consuming waste of time.  Not happy at all

Hi,
My grandfather has just bought this rather expensive system, and the people in the shop told him that he would be able to listen to his CDs in any room in the house. He has spent the past 48 hours trying to figure it out. I have come round today, and spent three hours trying to figure it out, and only realised it wasn’t possible when I found this forum. Your literature does NOT make it clear. Your customer service helpline which he called yesterday were incredibly unhelpful and impatient. Quite frankly, I expected more from this company. Please alter your literature from now on.

I agree that the advertising literature is misleading. I am looking at the Radio Times magazine (UK) which has a full page advertisement  which can only be interpreted as allowing you to play all your music from whatever the source . It should state clearly that its is only possible to stream the music libarary on your computer or internet radio. A comment from Bose to the effect that the comapny will review its advertsing literature is notable by its absence.

Hi, like Ben and Hellotosh I am realy disappointed that Bose still don’t have this technology working. I use the Soundtouch speakers in my home and was just about to buy the  Wave Soundtouch IV. I searched through the lterature looking for some clarification on this point as I had heard that it may be a problem to transmit not MP3 format wirelessly. None of the Bose literature makes it clear, a lot of ambiguity… a lot of info about streaming and digital music libraries and then a closing comment “Oh and there’s a CD player and a DAB tuner too” forgeting to comment they don’t work through the soundtouch speakers… The technology is there but Bose chose the wrong format to base their system on… I have an 11 year old Philips system which plays “follow me” wireless music throughout the house from CD’s and it works really well… But I like Bose… A pity… Guess there goes my Xmas present up the swanny.

What an absolute attempt to con people out of hard earned money. Misrepresentation is an understatement. Rang Bose before purchasing and assured multiple music options in multiple rooms so worth spending thousands of pounds to set up a wireless system to replace our old wired stereo. So how happy were we after hours of trying to set up 4 wireless speakers and our new Wave Soundtouch IV only to find out Cd’s will not stream wirelessly. Disgusted is the nicest word I can use to describe how we felt. So just to make sure we rang Bose only to be told even though all the available information on their website says the system will work and do what we wanted, it actually CAN’T and WON’T. Needless to say Bose are now collecting everything we ordered and have now lost a customer for life. Maybe BOSE should stand for Best Off Somewhere Else.

Thanks Jordan. I guess I have one additional question then. In their promotional literature, Bose writes that the Bose Wave Soundtouch Music System IV is "compatible with the entire SoundTouch family of wireless speakers"
if I can’t stream music from the Bose Wave to the Soundtouch 10 speaker, what exactly does this statement mean? It seems misleading to me, but maybe I am missing something.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

I am so angry and dissatisfied that I bought this supposedly amazing system - the Bose Wave SoundTouch $599 and the SoundTouch 10 set of two $399 - only to find out that nothing supports the CD for wireless streaming. I'm assuming the Sony USB turntable isn't supported wirelessly either so there's another $79. I spent over $1000 to get my husband the best Bose sound that he could use for his massive music collections of CDs and LPs only to find out I should've bought a cheap shelf system. How about Bose sends and pays for someone to export all his music?!

Bose needs to stop right now and make sure every piece of advertising, every bit of marketing, and all the product packaging reflects that CDs aren't wirelessly supported!!!
