I got my new QC35 II headphones a week ago. My main interest is in listening to music while walking outdoors. I have ripped a few CDs to my PC (Win10, Windows Media Player, MP3) and copied the files further to my fairly new smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S20 5G, Android 11). App software is supposed to be the latest, 4.8.1, date of headset manufacture was 15 September 2020.
Problem 1: When double-pressing the multi-function button (supposed to be "skip forward") the music stops and the pointer returns to the beginning of the song, i.e. same outcome which is specified and happens for the triple-pressing ("skip backward").
Problem 2: I really thought and hoped that the "skip forward" would mean jumping to the next song, but it might just mean jumping to the end of the ongoing song??? (Which is not happening either, as explained.)
The latter problem could partly be overcome if there was a way to rip/copy the string of songs into a single file. Unfortunately the fast-forward function is tediously slow. Not a good solution.
If the correct function of "skip forward" is to start the next music file in the same folder, there is a serious error in my headset (HW or SW) which I certainly want to have rectified. If, instead, the "proper" functioning was just jumping to the end of the song, my very strong recommendation would be that an app software update would make it to jump to the next song.
The normal behavior for the Multi-function button is as you would imagine:
Play or pause = Press the Multi-function button once
Track forward = Quickly press the Multi-function button twice
Fast forward = Quickly press the Multi-function button twice and hold the second press
Track back = Quickly press the Multi-function button three times
Rewind = Quickly press the Multi-function button three times and hold the third press
If this is not happening for you, it could be that you're not pressing the button fast enough. Please try as per the instructions, and should the problem continue, please unpair the headphones, then re-pair to check if the problem persists. I also recommend pairing the headphones with other devices to see if the problem exists on those devices also.
Thanks Jeff for your response. It appears that I have found a (the) solution. I reconnected the headset with my phone and upon testing I found that the problem was not a too slow double-pressing of the multi-function button. On my phone, however, next to the progress bar of the music played now the text "Connect to Samsung Music" had appeared. On tapping this the music app came into action, I believe, in the appropriate way and now the skip forward of the headset jumps nicely to the next song, as I had hoped. The point seems to be that the music to be played is selected from within the Samsung Music app where all your downloads are visible. Thank you.
