Recording video using T4S audio into iPhone 8 via dongle to lightning jack

Recording video using T4S audio into iPhone via dongle into lightning jack. Where do I plug the dongle into the T4S? Thanks!

Hi Wonder,

Can you please provide more information about what it is that you want to achieve? it sounds like you would like to use the ToneMatch T4S in a similar way to something like an iRig for your iPhone.

Thanks for reply. More specifically, I used a 1/4" from my old T1 Tonematch into an iRig and then into a dongle with a lightning plug into my iPhone 8. This gave me excellent audio while recording video on the iPhone. Now I have a new T4S and need to know where to plug into the 1/4" output on the T4S? Thanks for any help.

Hi Wonder!

Thank you for clarifying. I recommend connecting a 1/4" cable from the output labelled MONO on the T4S:

The other end of the 1/4" cable can then be connected to the iRig to use with your iPhone 8.

Hope this helps!

Got it, 1/4" into Mono jack of T4S to the iRig to the iPhone 8. Thanks so much, might even use both T4S Mono jacks since I plan on using another iPhone 8 for the B roll of the video. Also planning on mixing these two feeds in iMovie. Please advise if this seems doable, i.e. two camera shoot with A & B rolls into iMovie.

Thanks so much and very best wishes,

Wonder

Hey Wonder,

This is certainly doable -  just make sure the audio tracks are aligned correctly when editing in iMovie to avoid any phasing issues.

One thing to note as well: the T4S only has one MONO jack. If you are using both 1/4" outputs then the output from the T4S will be stereo, with separate left and right channels.

Many thanks Dylan, sorry it took so long to get back. Many fires burning. Very helpful and solved the problem.
