Review of the L1 Pro16 as promised... FANTASTIC!

I tried to post a lengthy review but I keep getting an error of invalid HTML in the post and it won't submit.  There is no HTML in what I'm trying to post.

I'll try in the comments here:

Pro16 Review (if any questions, put em in the comments)-- Used the Pro16 for my regular Wednesday afternoon gig today (Bamboo Beach Bar in Madeira Beach, FL). Until now I used a Classic with two B1, with the bass line out to a PackLite that powers a B2. Being an outside gig, having that extra bass really makes a huge difference and allows more volume. Well, let me tell you, the Pro16 was TREMENDOUS, especially regarding my #1 fear of feedback when I get close to the array. As per volume, I couldn't turn it up but MAYBE halfway for the most part, and could be even less. The dispersion was incredible too. Let me add that I use tracks so I really put it to the test as per the low end.

One great thing with the speaker array mounted in the sub, is the same amount of bass and treble on either side of the room, (instead of being a bit bass heavy on the side where the B1 or B2 is placed.)
I was going to use the T1 and output it to the Pro16, as that's what I'm used to, but at last minute decided to use the Pro16 inputs and the L1 Mix app. The bluetooth stayed connected to both phones (1 for tracks, and 1 for L1 Mix app) for the whole 4 hr gig. I have a couple wishes for the L1 Mix app - a TUNER, and an easier way increase/decrease volume in small amounts. The software knobs are tough to turn up or down in very small increments. With backing tracks, this is a critical part, as the RMS of some tracks will slightly differ from others.
As per sound- The bass was HUGE. Although only 16 speakers, the array threw the high end out far and wide. I would need two of my Model 2 B2 to match this thing. It was incredible.. Load in / Setup and Tear down / load out were both under 15 minutes (I have two wireless systems and two guitars to pack up.) In a nutshell, Who wants to buy my Classics? LOL

Thanks for the great review Tommy!!!

I just wish I could have turned it up full blast, but it's just too powerful LOL

Wow. Great review Tommy.

Thanks.

Glad to hear how powerful they are. Exactly what I have been waiting for. Yay.

Bose had 10 years to research and update. And they sure delivered.

Eric

Thanks for the review Tommy!  My L1 Pro16 is being delivered on the 7th.

Let me add that disassembling the spacer and the array is very difficult.  They made the fit EXTREMELY tight and it takes me a minute or two to get it out of the sub and then taking the spacer off the array

1. Maybe it loosens up a bit overtime ...

2. I read somewhere on another forum that they used some kind of Teflon Lubricant to help slide it in and out easier.

Eric

I wouldn't use any chemicals on this plastic.. much too important ..... I know some are safe, but ya never really know what's gonna happen

I agree Tommy.

I wouldn't use any chemicals either.

If I remember correctly the post stated something natural.

I guess back to #1: Maybe it'll loosen up a bit ...

I found the Compact extenders to be a tad difficult to pull apart. Nothing terrible, I wonder if it's like that

I bought one L1 pro 16 yesterday and it'll be delivered by tomorrow. I can't wait to hear it sound. I was going to purchase L1 pro 8, but with 30% discount on L1 pro 16, I decided to take pro 16

Who is offering the Pro 16 at 30% off?

O..

yeah! It's from my friend who works for a Bose authorized dealer.

We'd have to see your receipt to believe.. other than that, I ain't "buying" it

Yes these things are TIGHT when together.. Takes some wiggling and clenching to get them apart

This is my order confirmation email sent from Bose.

[Picture was deleted since I got this comment "this is probably not the place to showcase your good fortune." ] I

wow that's unbelievable.  I was always under the impression there are no discounts for anybody ever unless authorized for all resellers by Bose.

Employee pricing passed along to a friend. A good deal, but this is probably not the place to showcase your good fortune.
