If you use the Bose Connect app, it will download the firmware update and notify you when it is ready to update your S1 Pro. It's much faster if you use a computer to connect to the Bose site and do the update with a Bluetooth cable. Please see the link below for details.
After they updated, I wanted to change the name of the devices to something more discrete than Bose S1 1 and Bose S1 2. The Bose Connect App (ver. 4.6) will no longer connect to either them.
I get a message something like "Oh Snap, we couldn't connect" and have the option to try again. After 3 tries, it gives up. (I only had one S1 turned on at a time). The BlueTooth light was flashing. I tried turning them off and back on and started the whole connect process over...same result.
Just to see if it helped, I uninstalled the Bose Connect app and reinstalled it. Same issue. Has anyone else had a problem connecting BlueTooth to their S1 after putting on this latest firmware?
The app clearly sees the unit as it shows it's name and I have to drag it down to connect. Additionally, my phone can see the S1 so the Bluetooth is enabled on the S1 and the Phone. That said, my phone can't pair with the S1 either...but then I'd expect that.
I am the last person to give advice on this subject but, I had a problem on the last update and the fix for me was to tell the device (ipad) to forget the S1. Once it was removed from the list I tried to connect and it worked.
I went back and tried again. I forgot the S1 Pro then tried to re-pair.
I have only 1 of my S1 Pros (Bose S1 Pro) turned on
With the BlueTooth light flashing white, my phone now sees 2 Bose S1 devices
The first has the normal BlueTooth symbol and is named "LE-Bose S1 Pro". When I try to pair with it, I get the message "Pairing rejected by LE-Bose S1 Pro."
The second instance has a "headphone" symbol and just has the name "Bose S1 Pro". I am able to connect with the "headphone" device in my phone BlueTooth Settings, but the Bose Connect App will not connect. I get the "Aw Snap" message and 3 strikes you're out.
While connected in just my phone settings, I can play audio through the S1 Pro, but again, the Bose Connect App will not connect to the device.
I tried the other S1 Pro (Bose S1 Pro #3) and I have the same exact experience except the names of the device in the messages now reflect "Bose S1 Pro #3).
Make sure that every device that may be connected to the S1 Pro devices has Bluetooth turned off
Everything that I can think of is turned off.
On your tablet or phone (Settings), forget the S1 Pro devices
Went into my phone and "forgot" the S1 Pros
Delete the Bose Connect app
Removed the Bose Connect App from my phone
On your tablet or phone (Settings) Pair the S1 Pro devices to your tablet or phone
The first one I tried was Bose S1 Pro/LE-Bose S1 Pro. I was able to connect to the device Bose S1 Pro (Headphone symbol). When I tried to connect to the normal BlueTooth symbol named Le-Bose S1 Pro, it said connection rejected by LE-Bose S1 Pro.
I tried to connect to the second S1 Pro, but couldn't connect to either. The Headphone Symbol one didn't give me an error, it just went onto my paired list, but didn't connect. The "LE-Bose S1 Pro #3" with the BlueTooth symbol gave the the error, Connection rejected by LE-Bose S1 Pro #3.
On your tablet or phone Install the Bose Connect app
Installed the Bose Connect App on my phone
In the Bose Connect app, you should be able to connect to your S1 Pro devices now
I was unable to connect to eiter device. I got the same messages and 3 strikes you're out as before.
ST
I don't remember seeing the LE-Bose S1 Pro when I've connected prior to this upgrade. I don't understand why each S1 Pro shows up as 2 devices. For example, one device is named Bose S1 Pro. On my phone, in the BlueTooth settings, I see 2 different devices for this 1 S1 pro. One named "Bose S1 Pro" and the other is named "LE-Bose S1 Pro". The "Bose S1 Pro" shows as headphones and the LE version shows the normal BlueTooth symbol.
ST, can you shed any light on why I'm seeing 2 devices per S1 Pro?
NOTE: I'm using the same phone I've always used since I purchased the S1s.
Off topic a bit, and I think this was mentioned in another thread, but Bose should secure the BlueTooth connection a bit so that another user can't connect unintentionally or otherwise. As an example, my phone shows what I believe is my neighbors TV as a bluetooth device. Is it possible that it's pairing with my S1 Pro?

Are you using an Android phone? I just pulled out my Android tablet and went through the steps. I paired to "Bose S1 Pro" not "LE-Bose S1 Pro".

LE stands for Low Energy, but for audio with the S1 Pro I use the non-LE connection. My Android tablet rejects the LE-S1 Pro connection.
NOTE: I'm using the same phone I've always used since I purchased the S1s.

I did some testing today, with this latest firmware update the S1 Pro must be put in pairing mode (manually or using the Bose Connect app) before it can be discovered and paired. This should solve the unintentional connection issues.
As an example, my phone shows what I believe is my neighbors TV as a bluetooth device. Is it possible that it's pairing with my S1 Pro?
You can try clearing the Bluetooth device list on the S1 Pro systems before you take another run at connecting them to your phone. That will disconnect and forget all previous connections.
Press and hold the Bluetooth button. until it goes dark (about 7-10 seconds).

Thanks for the LE explanation. The LE won't pair, no matter what.
I'm using a Google Nexus 5 Android Phone.
I cleared the S1 as you suggested. It WAS NOT paired in the BlueTooth settings on my phone.
I started Bose Connect App. It came up and recognized "Bose S1 Pro".
I dragged the S1 picture down to connect.
Bose Connect gave me a screen showing the S1 Control Panel and telling me to hold the BlueTooth button down for 2 seconds to put it in pairing mode.
I pushed the BlueTooth button for 2 seconds and Bose Connect switched from the screen it was on to the "Connecting" screen which shows the S1 Pro and says "connecting" under it.
Got the "Aw Snap" message signifying a failure.
I didn't have the Bose Connect App installed on my Android Tablet. So, I installed it and was able to connect to both of my S1 Pros and rename them in the app. That said, there must be a problem with something on my phone. It always worked before but I haven't used the Bose Connect app in quite a while.
According to the Bose S1 Firmware History Wiki there is an update to the BT security in latest v7.1.5. Just as important there are enhancements to prevent premature battery drain. So an update we’ll worth considering.

@ST is there another Bose website that describes the contents of a S1 firmware release in more detail like a formal release notes?
The notes shown here (as you quoted in) S1 Pro System Updates are the official release notes.
The Notes column on the site mentioned above is very high level.
They always are except where a change affects the way you interact with a device. Bose has not published more details.
For example, exactly what is the new security feature(s) in the BT connection?
The security enhancements do not require you to change the way you operate the S1 Pro, although some people have had to re-pair the Bluetooth connection to re-establish the pairing.

But ST I’m curious as to what security enhancement means not how we interact with the BT connection. What’s goin on with this connection under this firmware that is more secure than before?

With this firmware update (7.1.5) it is now more difficult for someone to intercept an active Bluetooth connection. Because this pertains to security, I cannot go into more detail about how that was implemented.
That’s all I’m asking ST. I don’t expect any trade secrets to be divulged or how it was implemented in underlying code. Having new security features to prevent intercepting a BT connection is much more informative than an overly broad based description of simply noting “security improvements”. Thanks for clarifying.
This firmware update ruined my most used use case: Coming home with Spotify on Galaxy S10 on QC35, turning QC35 off and having the same music continue on S1 Pro.
It's just not possible anymore to auto reconnect. Most of the times even manual reconnect doesn't work without turning the S1 Pro off and manual connect again. Every day.
I'd drop all security to get that automation back. Is there a way, can I roll back the firmware?
