I will be performing a concert with backing tracks using a Shure 58A beta, iPad to play music, T1 mixer and Compact L-1. I will be recording with an iPhone 11. I understand the audio from the iPhone is not great. What suggestions would you have to enhance the audio for this video?
Honestly, the phones don't do a bad job. My acoustic band has been doing a "Song-a-Day" series on our FB page with a similar setup. We have our dual L1 Compact and Soundcraft analog mixer PA set up in our regular practice space (our former dining room), running 4 vocal mics/Cajon mic/Acoustic-Electric w/looper through it, and we're recording it with either my iPhone 7 or (usually) our daughter's Galaxy...8? The room is pretty dead overall so there's not a terrible amount of "room noise", so it picks up what's coming out of the PA speakers pretty well. Due to room layout, we have our L1's on either side wall facing in.
If you want to get an idea of how it sounds, here's our FB playlist with 13 song videos so far, with various vocalists and guitars through the Bose system:

Hope this helps,
Jeff

It's not so much the iPhone is bad at audio, more that you are recording in a room that is not treated to sound good (as all recording studios are). So you need to send an output from the T1 direct to the iPhone but the only way to do this is with some kind of lightning adapter. This vid explains how,
Agreed, phones don't do a "bad", but it's not what people who buy into BOSE quality would normally be happy with - in my opinion.

My point was "try it first", based on the OP's statement: "I understand the audio from the iPhone is not great."
That says to me that he hasn't tried it yet and therefore the iPhone may surprise him, depending on his needs. There are a TON of well known artists doing "living room concerts" with nothing but a phone that sound quite good. It can be very room-acoustics dependent, but that goes for whatever recording setup you have regardless of cost.
My suggestion was to go ahead and use his Bose setup (as we are) and see how that translates over the phone.
Hope that's more clear,
Jeff
Hi Jeff
have tried and with an iPhone 7 it’s “ok” and I understand “names” are doing stuff on their phones.
when I invest in Bose I do it cos I like the sound. I am still disappointed the reverb does not get shipped with output via the usb and I can’t think why anyone would think that was acceptable. If I want a dry out on mic I’ll turn off FX, but to deny the ability on high grade kit is counter intuitive.

The T4S/T8S both support reverb via USB B to PC.

This was not supported on the T1, but it is definitely available on the T4S/T8S. I tested it last night before replying to your post in your other discussion USB-B to PC

Getting back to OP's original question:
If you don't like the sound of the iPhone 11 recording your Bose PA in the room, order yourself a $40 IK Multimedia iRIG 2, plug the T1's 1/4" Main output into it with a TS/TS cable and connect the iRIG 2 1/8" cable to your iPhone 11 with a $9 Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter. If you're running the T1 to your Bose L1 Compact via the Main 1/4" output, use the L1's 1/4" Main output.
Hope this helps,
Jeff
Thanks Jeff, will give that a try with my old iPhone 7..
Jeff,
Thank you so much for the iRig recommendation. I do have one of those and have never used it b/c I "couldn't get it to work". lol Actually, I never knew how to properly configure it to the Bose products. Thanks a million for being direct and succinct. I got it to work and it made all the difference in the quality of the sound! Kudos to you for putting out a song a day, Listened to some of your songs. Nice!
