Settings for Shure Beta 58A and emulated guitar for T4S?

Hi

Just purchased the T4S mixer and Pro 16 array.

Sounds great so far at home. I'll be gigging this Friday

with it for the first time and I had a few questions.

I'm a vocalist  / guitarist in a 3 piece cover band and was wondering

if anyone had a good base setting for a Shure Beta 58A vocal mic.

I realize everybody has their own unique voice but just a general

setting to start would suffice. The preset for the Shure Beta 58A doesn't seem very helpful

and the factory settings don't even match the manual.

Also , I'm an electric guitarist and would like to use the direct out from

my Roland Blues Cube amp into channel 2 of the T4S.  Since the direct out is emulated

should I use the "UTILITY/ FLAT" setting or the "ELECTRIC GUITARS/MIKED AMP W/SM57"

or maybe "ELECTRIC GUITARS/GENERAL DIRECT" ?

Again, the presets aren't any help.

Thanks

Hello again adjax,

The ToneMatch presets are just a starting point, and are the subjective settings of the Bose engineers for each piece of equipment.  I've heard of someone preferring the "Accordian" setting for their particular guitar, because it sounded best to him!  Your ear is the best advice, but if you have a trusted circle of friends, you might ask one to listen to you as an audience would.  Then use the zEq to enhance or cut, and add reverb to taste (remember with an L1, a little goes a long way.)  Hearing yourself from an L1 is definitely a new experience, and often very different from what you may be used to.  Personally, I use a Beta 58a, and use that preset, but zEq to taste.

For guitar, I would start with the UTILITY/FLAT -- chances are if you're used to dialing in your sound with the Blues Cube, start there.  Then zEq, reverb/chorus/delay/etc from the T4s if you need more.

If you haven't already, make sure your T4s is loaded with the latest firmware.  Here are instructions for checking firmware, and if you need to update, here are the instructions for updating. The updates include improvements to the reverb engine and routing.  Don't forget to do the last step (factory reset) to make the updates take effect.

Regarding settings not matching the manual:  There was an update to the manual -- information about that can be found at this link.

Have fun!

Does that help?
