I have a F1 stack, L1 model S w/ B2 And I’m using a Traktor Control S4 with a iMac.
Im running 1/4 Balanced Cables from both Bose units above into my S4 and i get great sound and control. My question is a 2 part.
1. If i get a T1 what benefit will it do my current rig set up.
2. I sometimes have guest DJ come and play with me, My rig is fully digital and when i plug the guest into my S4 on a channel they are getting a delay. (note some DJ’s are running a digital set up like mine, and some are running an analog rig) But the end result is always the same they are getting a delay in their mixer. This causes them to not be able to mix in sync or on beat. Would the T1 allow me to plug two mixers into it and fix this problem? I understand that the T1 is basically just a powerful Mixing board.
The benefit is HUGE although not sure on the delay feature as I have never used it.
A T1 gives you tone control and access to the amazing DJ presets that totally change the way the bass sounds.
I plug my DJ mixer and mics into the T1, and then use the Master Output to each L1 (splitting the signal).

What kind of microphone do you use? You may like the microphone preamps and Presets in the T1®.
Are you running Mono (same signal to both the F1 Stack and the L1® Model 1s)?
If so, you can try the T1® DJ Presets. There’s definitely an advantage to doing that with the L1® Model 1S. You may not need that for the F1 Stack but it would be worth a try.
Are you running stereo (Left to the F1 Stack, Right to the L1 Model 1S - or the other way around). Knowing that will help me to answer other questions that may come up.

It sounds like you have some latency in the Traktor S4. I found this discussion on the Native Instruments forum that might give you some ideas. There’s also an article here. From what I can see, there may be a setting on the Traktor to set it up for Live Inputs.
The T1® might help by allowing the guest DJ to have a signal path parallel to yours. That is… you wouldn’t have to run the guest DJ through the Traktor. It would be relatively easy if you and your guests run mono. It could be done if you run stereo but it would be a little tricky to do.
I wonder - When you have a guest DJ why not disconnect the output cables from your Traktor S4 and plug them into your guest DJ’s rig?

First of all the S4 is a controller, it doesn’t work standalone. Using the S4 as your “center mixer” isn’t the optimal solution.
An S8, which has a standalone mixer section, for example can be used for this.
Or you can add the T1 as your center piece. It will deliver you better performance on your mic channel, and better connectivity for connecting another dj. But you end up with another unit, while another dj with for example cds can takeover on the S8 without interruption or delay.
Thanks for the input guys.
1. I am running stereo F1 on the Left L1 on the right.
2. I forgot about the latency on the S4 and did not think to adjust it.
I don’t mind adding a new piece to my gear as long as i can control everything from it, and gain more control over my sound.
3. I don’t use a mic, people who come to my parties every week only come for one reason… to dance until they pass out. lol
My only other thing was connectivity. The S4 to the iMac as usual, but changing the sound card to the T1 this was the only thing plugged into the S4 is my usb out to my Mac. Correct?
And the L1 is connected to the T1 and the F1 runs into the master out on the T1. My guest Mixer goes into channel 4/5 outs right?
Hi DJ Aziz Masudi,
I can’t answer your question about how you will connect the T1® and the Mac and the S4. I got the impression that the S4 was connected by USB to the Mac. If you connect the T1® to the Mac, the Mac should recognize it as a USB sound card. But I can’t know how that will interact with the S4.
If you keep everything as it is, but connect the analog outputs to the T1® (Channels 1 and 2) you can direct Channel 1 to the Master Output to the Model 1S, and Channel 2 to the Aux output and from there to the F1.
When you have a guest, you can connect him/her to T1® Channel 3 and Channel 4. You can direct Channel 3 to Master (and the Model 1S) and Channel 4 to Aux (and the F1).
Channel 4/5 is really one channel with two inputs so that you can easily combine a stereo signal to convert it to mono. Since you want to maintain stereo, you won’t connect anything to both sides of Channel 4/5.
Does that help?

ST,
Well lets say the T1 is connect via USB, and also my S4 controller. I can go into pref. in tractor, select the T1 as my sound card and all sound from my S4 will run via T1. Will this still allow the L1 to work with the cable that connects it to the T1 even if its plugged into my computer via USB? And just add the F1 on another channel say the master out on the T1?
Then i can add another mixer to the T1 on 4/5?
Aziz,
ST is correct … you should see the T1 as a center mixer in your setup.
If you look at :
each dj has it’s own setup … each setup connects to a central mixer, which is just a hub. This could be the T1 in your case. You do not use the soundcard abilities of the T1, you connect your S4 to it via the jack out/inputs. And your iMac to your S4.
DJLeBart,
I got that part just trying to figure the best way to run the connections. So with my current set up using the S4’s sound card vs the T1’s sound card which is better and will provide cleaner sound i wonder? I will look at the specs. Anyway T1 will be my Mixing Hub, my outs from my S4 will run into the T1 just like my guest DJ’s and on different channels using the T1 simply to send sound to the floor from our rigs. Got it! So basically the T1 is plugged into the L1, the F1 into the Master T1, and my S4 outs get plugged into the T1.

If you route the audio output through to the T1®, you can use the T1 as the central mixer as suggested by djLeBart. The difference is that you are sending the audio to the T1 via USB instead of using analog cables from the S4 to the T1®.
The audio from the Mac over USB: You can split the Left and Right Channels like this:
Left - Master - Model 1S
Right - Aux - F1
When you add a guest his/her outputs go to
T1®
Channel 1 - Master - Model 1S
Channel 2 - Aux - F1
Do not use Channel 4/5 for the guest. This will be mixed to mono and can only be sent to:
Master or
Aux or
both.
But it will be mono.
Is that clearer?
