I just started DJ’n for friends and family parties, stag and does etc…with the L1. Have done about 5 gigs without problems. The last 2 have not gone well. Wondering if any other DJ’s have experienced this problem before?
Everything works well for about an hour, and then suddenly, the system volume starts fading in and out, almost as if someone is turning the master up and down. I run the L1 classic with B1 to Tonematch, and run tonematch to my Macbook via USB. Oh and I use Megaseg as my software.
Link to my question to Bose help is HERE: sound Fading
PLEASE offer comments, suggestions, ANYTHING.
thanks.
It may be a faulty remote.
I would try it without the remote.
You can set the levels with the remote and then unplug the remote and levels should stay.
I had the opposite issue with it getting louder on its own. It was the remote.
Hi Scott, Thanks for the reply. I don’t use the remote… so it’s not that.
I just went and purchased a new USB cord and new audio cable. I’ve set it all up in my living room and am going to let it run through my exact playlist I used on Saturday night at the same levels, so I know at what time the problem occurred and see if it happens again.
Any other ideas, please shoot them at me!
Thanks,
kt
Hey Scott Hanna,
I had the same trouble that vegas is having with my Classic and T1,I plug in the remote and it works fine.I wonder if it has something to do with the remote plug circuitry.
It may be the B1 cords. If the connections are loose they will do that. The sound will fade almost all the way out and come back on - sometimes with bass, sometimes without. The loose connection may be making it do that.
Idaho,
Good point. I haven’t experience this, but have heard of this happening.

hmmm, interesting. Vegas, have you tried it WITH the remote and seeing the same issues?
Thanks so much for posting this! I think this might be the problem. When plugging and unplugging the bass, that is the sound that it makes, fading in and out… I tested the system all sorts of ways today, no tonematch, no computer (straight from my ipod) and the fading happened each and every time. I tried it on channel 3, same results… it wasn’t until I read your post about the bass that I checked it, and sure enough, even as I jiggled it with my hand, it cuts in and out.
So now I guess the question is, is it just the cord, or the b1 itself, or could it be at the input level on the tower base?

Hi vegas,
Please Check your B1 Cable ? follow the link for pictures.
It sounds like your system is fairly new. Have you talked to L1® Support? (actually phoned them? Great people).
Call Bose® Product & Technical Support at (877) 335-2673 (U.S. and Canada only)
Monday-Friday: 8:30 AM - 9:00 PM ET

Currently no support available on Sunday
Yes ST, that would explain every thing. Good point!
I second that Bose support is second to none!
Good luck & keep us posted.
Hey ST. Thanks!! I just did the fix as shown in the link. Plugged it in and have it running now. Everything sounds good so far, even when I jiggle the cord around the sound doesn’t fade like it did yesterday.
Weird that Bose seemed to be aware of this problem, yet when I posted on “ask Bose for help” this was not brought up at all.
I played a gig under the assumption that it could have just been a shared power source problem, yet the fading happened an hour into the gig again because, as it turns out, of the failed B1 cord. ( a gig which I ended up not being paid for because of this issue ).
I think I may give Bose a call anyway.
Thanks again for all the input!
Hi vegas,
I didn’t catch it either. I was thrown off because it was happening an hour into the gig so I didn’t think of it as the relatively mechanical issue of the cable.
Actually - I think the credit goes to IdahoDJ.com (above) for thinking of the B1 cords.
Nice catch - IdahoDJ.com!
I’m glad things are better now.
For sure thanks to IdahoDJ for the first B1 suggestion and to ST for the link to the cord fix.
We have a new article in the wiki
Sound Fading In and Out
Vegas - I’d like to link to your video on youtube in the wiki article.
Is that okay with you?
Yes, you may use the video, hopefully it will save someone else the hassle of having to figure out what the cause is.
Sorry I didnt check this thread sooner. The volume swell is exactly what the tower does when you plug/unplug the subs while its running. I would have gone with malfunction of the sub output jack/input jack or the cable.
Glad you found it and sorry to hear about it effecting your gigs.

When I saw this post, it reminded me of when I had the same problem. It took me a lot of searching and a bit of direction (via links) from ST to find the answer. So when I saw it come up again, I threw out my idea.
Glad to help.
Vegas,
Glad you go it figured out.
Idaho,
Nice catch!
ST,
thanks for your imput and for adding things like this to the wiki. It helps us all
Everyone else,
thanks for offering ideas and suggestions. It may not have been the cause this time, but may be very helpful to someone else
Similar problem i am facing with my Cinemate 130. Sound is fading out and if I crank up the volume, occasionally I am experiencing some crazy distortion sound as well. I am using a wireless acoustimas which came with the package. It works well upto 45 mins to an hour and then the sound starts fading. I think there is some issue with any sort of electricals getting heated up etc. If i cut the power and leave it for an hour or more then it can again work for around an hour. But if I try to disconnect the power and connect again within few minutes, the issue remains the same. My system had been connected to power source for 4-6 hours daily on standby (without getting used for 5-6 months). I will try to change all the cables and see if that works. My city does not have a Bose service station so i might have to ship my system to get it repaired. I will share if I find the exact issue.
