You can connect a B2 Bass Module to the L1 Model II. While the B2 will work fine, your Model II must be running at least Version 1.4 of the firmware in order to take advantage of the /normal/- switch (otherwise the Model II will not recognize the difference.)
The B2 Bass Module page in the Bose Wiki describes the operation of the switch, and the firmware update you may possibly need for your L1 Model II. The firmware version depends on the manufacture date of your L1 Model II (identified by serial number), and/or whether any previous owner already performed the update. As noted on the L1 Model II Power Stand Firmware Updates page, the only sure way to know your L1's curreent firmware version is by connecting a T1 ToneMatch Audio Engine. (You'd also need a T1 if you need to do an update.)
