Last night my TV turned on twice by itself in the middle of the night. It's never done ever before I installed the soundbar. Has anyone experienced this before?
I have it connected to a Samsung (2016ish) TV via HDMI ARC. No other devices. I also have the app set up.
I'm sorry to hear that your Soundbar 500 is possibly triggering your TV to power on unexpectedly. This is very strange and not something that I have heard much of.
Do you have CEC enabled in the Bose Music app? If so, I would recommend testing the alternate setting to see if this still happens.
I'd also like to welcome to the Bose Community to comment if they have also experienced this.
Thank you for posting. I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble with your soundbar and your TV.
As mentioned above, the soundbar's ability to turn on the TV usually comes from the CEC settings.
On the Bose Music app, if you go to Settings > Advanced CEC, there will be 3 options 'On' 'Alternate' and 'Off'. If we can try changing to Alternate or On, depending on which it is set to, we should be able to stop this from happening.
I tried changing the CEC settings to "Alternate" which worked, or so I thought for a few days and then the TV started turning on again. I then switched the CEC settings to "Off" and it still seems to turn on spontaneously. Any other advice or updates you have are appreciated.
Also, the remote gives double input for single clicks. I.e., when I press the right arrow once, it moves two icons on the screen, true for up and down. Specifically when using the navigation buttons.
Just installed a new Soundbar 500 to my Samsung TV (4k Ultra HD model) and, occasionally when I switch off the TV (ie put it into Standby mode), it quickly switches back on and I have to turn it off again.
Any clues or suggestions please (not sure if it's linked to the "Advanced CEC" setting which I've seen mentioned in other TV related postings). My CEC setting is currently set to "On".
Hey C9OLS, thanks for your message. Welcome to the Bose Community forums!
As noted above, and in your post, HDMI-CEC settings are usually the culprit for this. CEC (consumer electronics control) enables commands like "volume increase" and "power on/off" to be sent and communicated between two devices using an HDMI cable. Both the Soundbar and your TV will have their own independent CEC settings. Have you tried changing the CEC settings within the Bose Music app for your speaker to test the results?
Samsung brand CEC as a feature called "Anynet ". You'll find independent settings for this directly on your TV.
We just connected our 500 to our old Samsung using optical as we don't have arc. Our CEC is set to anynet on TV but still having problems. Does soundbar need to be set the same, and hou do you find the settings
