Can this headset be used with home audio receivers? My current wireless headphones use an infrared transmitter plugged into the receiver's audio output jack.

That would depend on whether you have a BT transmitter built in or attached to your receiver.

 

Be aware though, this is an earlier version of BT which has been susceptable to lag, so listening to music would be fine, but watching movies may not be the best experience.  That's part of the reason that when you purchased your current headphones, most TV headphones used IR or RF transmitters.
