SoundTouch 30 and Wave SoundTouch Music System

Hello

I brought SoundTouch 30 in October 2017 in 529 Euros in Germany.I recently sold it in 400 euros.

I purchased last Friday the Wave Soundtouch system in 800 Euros.I made this choice because I want the sound like the Bose Sounddock III series.

Please note that I play the music using the AUX cable only from my laptop because I think that the wired connection sounds better than the WIFI or Bluetooth connection in Wave Soundtouch System. Please correct me if my understanding is wrong here.

I made this choice of buying Wave SoundTouch System over Soundtouch 30(after Paying 270 euros more) ,because I thought that the Wave ST system is more acoustic and produce greater dynamics and more detailed, refined and clear sound of every instruments.

I know that the ST 30 is the Bose's most powerful wireless speaker and its bass and power is much better than Wave ST system and people usually recommend and buy ST 30 only, but even then,I brought the Wave SoundTouch System after giving 270 euros extra. You can call me a crazy guy.But all I am looking for is the best sound from single speaker.

So do you think that should I exchange it to ST 30 again or should I keep the Wave SoundTouch System.

Please Note,I use only Aux cable most of the time and sometimes original audio CD to play the music.I never play using Bluetooth and WIFI because I want to get the best and clear sound.

Please assist me.I would be very thankful to you.

Which speaker is better?

Hi rajat1988,

Thank you for the great questions! These are both considered some of our top-performing systems, and certainly, have similarities and differences. Although I may not be able to provide an exact answer for you here, I can certainly help you to consider some of these similarities and differences:

Considerations:

  • Wave SoundTouch Music System IV
    • Utilizes our famous Waveguide technology
      • Dual-tapered for each driver
    • (x2) 2 1/4" drivers
    • Additional CD and AM/FM sources
  • SoundTouch 30
    • Also utilizes our famous Waveguide technology
      • Specifically for the internal woofer.
    • (x2) 2" twiddlers
    • (x1) 4 1/2" woofer (9lb)
    • No AM/FM tuner, or CD player.
  • What is Waveguide technology?
    • The following video provides brief explanation with some great visual examples: https://youtu.be/V_dVexdwoTw
    • Note: the product shown in this video is an older version, but uses the same acoustic technology as the Wave Music System IV and Wave SoundTouch Music System IV.

So, for your question: "Which speaker is better?". This really depends on what you are looking for. Both are powerful and very capable of producing clear, crisp, room-filling sound. The SoundTouch 30's additional woofer allows it to be more powerful in the bass category. However, if you aren't necessarily looking for a lot of bass, the Wave Music Systems' dual-tapered waveguide technology on both drivers allows for very crisp and clear audio, especially in the mid-high ranges. If you feel like you will still use CDs from time to time, then a Wave system would be your best choice. Also, if you never plan on using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, you may want to consider the Wave Music System IV instead of the Wave SoundTouch Music System IV. They both use the same acoustic technology, but the SoundTouch version allows you to connect to your home network and to use Bluetooth.

In conclusion, we always recommend testing the systems out for yourself, and deciding which features and benefits are going to be better for your individual needs.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions!

Best regards,

Hello Brian

Thanks for your reply.
I need the speaker which is very good for mid and high ranges.I do not need that much bass. But I also don’t need CD,FM,AM either.
So I think Wave system and ST 30 both are not for me since ST 30 focused on bass and wave system has unwanted additional features and it will cost me unwanted and additional 300 euros.
Can you suggest me any other speaker despite of these two, which produces clear and crisp mid-high ranges?

Regards
Rajat

Hello Rajat1988,

Thank you for the reply. This decision really comes down to what you are personally looking for. I can also suggest you can look into our passive speakers as well. The best experience I can suggest, is find your local Bose retailer and give the products a test in person. This will help you in making the final decision with what will suit your needs the best.  Maybe other community members may be able assist with pointing you in the right direction.

Kind Regards,
