I have ST120, ST20, ST10 pair, & another ST10 pair, all in my living room. Works pretty well & sounds good. Is just a pain that it doesn't turn on where you switched off. Have to turn on a speaker. Wait for the other speakers to be found. Then add them. Then adjust volumes. The volume sliders are inaccurate on the phone.
To be honest it's not designed for multiple speakers in the one room. IT's designed for multi room. Therefore they don't save as groups.
The other problem is that when you have several stereo sources like that in the one room you are prone to constructive and destructive interference. So as you walk around the room, you'll probably notice sound being uneven in your ears, and it won't sound as good.
The ability to save speaker groups could be added easily. People have been requesting this, repeatedly, for years. Unfortunately, its just been put in the "we'll forward your suggestion to the development team" bin by Bose. Its not a 'design' decision, its an 'ignore the customer's when they give you feedback for reasonable and easily achieved features' decision.

Thanks. That's a big shame to hear that Bose speakers are not designed for multiple speakers in one room, only after I have invested so heavily in having exactly that.
Anyway I find the sound pretty good & it fills my big living room area nicely. The quality improved significantly when I added the 2nd ST10 stereo pair.
& it would still be good to have the option to save the last played group setup when using in multiple rooms.
A possible work around for you is to pause the playback rather than turn off your speakers in between. I believe ST now allows you to keep most or all of their types of speakers in "power on" mode rather than reverting to standby/off after 30ish minutes of no playback. The setting for this is in the ST App. Persistent groups or other shortcuts to setting up groups have been a longstanding request that has so far gone unanswered. I think it's possible that the "always on" feature was developed as a work around to this problem for people like us; and also to help people who want to maintain Bluetooth a connection.
I used to use the pause function in Alexa frequently to maintain groups prior to the release of the Skill to allow playback on "all speakers". I'd still like to see more flexibility to create groups in Alexa (ie. downstairs speakers or upstairs speakers), but I imagine all Alexa development is on hold until the release of Airplay 2. Hopefully, the promises that were made by Bose a couple years ago to continue development of the Skills were not completely empty...
