Sub1 cardioid mode without sub match cable?

How to set up two sub1’s without the sub match cable? Can I connect XLR L into one and XLR R into the other one? 
will the phase reverse affect the phase of the S1 speaker connected to it?

Setup: two S1 pro and two sub1.

Please see this thread for a response to your query. The phase setting on the Sub1 should not affect the line output to the S1 Pro.
